Stuart I think the flu is blocking your reasoning here, this guy is a wind up merchant. If you follow the thread, people have tried to answer his question in their own way, however he is not very forthcoming with what repeats he is actually talking about. Plus there are countless avenger sites which would give an accurate answer. I was just putting it into some prospective, you keep taking the lemsip and you will see. Nope - feeling much better now and your comment still seems completely ludicrous. None of this stuff - not missing Doctor Who or lost Hancock or whatever - is important in comparison to murder and pillage, but no-one is claiming that is (so far as I'm aware). You bringing murder etc up just because you don't happen to think that someone else's concern is important is, well, idiotic. Personally I could care less about TV idents, but other people think they are important and discussion of their replacement is certainly on topic and relevant, which your post, sadly, wasn't. Cheers Stuart

The VHS releases appear to have the end caption blanked. but really who gives a monkey's uncle? there are people dying in Iraq, girls being murdered every day in Britain and here we are worrying about an end caption.of a 40 year old programme that has been repeated ad infinitum. Why dont you write to Mr Clemens and ask him where they a re if its do important to you? All of which is terrible, but what's it do with anything? If that rather juvenile attitude is your approach to life presumably you talk and think about nothing but the dreadful nature of this planet? If you don't want to talk about stuff liek this then go elsewhere, rather than spouting your illogical morality here. Stuart (sick with the flu, and can't be bothered with idiots like this today)

Folks, I was wondering if anyone can enlighten me on the history of Dad's Army in the archives. I'm sure I remember such episodes as 'Something Nasty in the Vault' being shown from black and white film in the late 70s/early 80s - is my memory playing tricks or were some tapes wiped and later recovered from overseas? Any details welcome. Cheers, Jim There's an illuminating article about Dad's Army on this very site : www.btinternet.com/~m.brown1/rear.htmSTuart

Thanks for the defense, Ben. Just to let everybody know, I have yet to find a similar board, or a truly informative site for missing US tv. So for now, this is my only outlet for posting on lost US tv. I hope I don't bug too many of you with it. Can't see it bothering anyone - missing TV is missing TV (I was only kidding with the 'strictly speaking' bit of my post). S

ok well SD, what do you know about Viper? and how do you know it? Eh, as I said I know it's a US TV show, none of which is missing, hence it is completely off-topic. A quick search on google throws up that information, plus your ubiquitous email address on various net forums. Which is as good a reason as any for deleting this thread, I'd have thought. Stuart

So does that mean I should go somewhere else to search for clues/ talk about the missing Super Bowl I footage? Actually, given that the main page describes this as a British TV site, then in the strictest terms you probably shouldn't ask here. However, I can't see anyone flaming you for asking about missing Superbowl footage, whereas Viper TV is a US show from the 90s, none of which is missing at all - that's a slightly different case. Further to my above post would Dick Fiddly be able to forward the website to me so that I can buy or trade a copy of the missing material and then send it to him at the BFI? I want to see Victim of the Dark even if no one else wants to. Try dropping ethantyler a PM - it was his find. Stuart

Most fans seem to pour cold water on any possible leads with a "it'll be a hoax" attitude. More often than not it probably leads to nothing but occasionally the effort is repayed (like with the UCLA Avengers finds, as you say). Much more TV is out there to be found - of that i'm certain. Never say never! I've always thought if far more likely that lost tv would turn up due to someone taking the time to look through the collections of people who have no idea stuff is even missing, rather than implausible claims on the web that Mr X has a specific missing episode of Doctor Who for sale. The best place to look up archive status of programmes is in the Kaleidoscope Guides (their website will have details). A new version of the drama guide is out soon, I believe. They are very useful and well researched books but pretty pricey. I've always thought they looked great, but the price is just too high for my pocket unfortunately. Stuart

Thanks Stuart. I don't usually like asking "Does this exist?", but I couldn't find the information anywere online. Out of interest, how did you check the archive status of the episodes? Armchair Theatre is one of the programmes listed in Dick Fiddy's book for 'Missing, Believed Wiped' (not a book I'd recommend particularly, but useful sometimes). Stuart

Rather than start a new thread and because Armchair Theatre has been discussed here, can anyone point me in the direction of a list of surviving/missing Armchair Theatre episodes? I can't find one anywhere and believe me, I've spent a long time looking. Failing that, could someone tell me the archive status (i.e. exists/missing) of the following episodes, please? The Lover Lena, Oh Lena I was going to ask about more, but I've just realised that those are from an American series. Lena, Oh My Lena (25.9.60) survives according to MBW. 'The Lover', however, doesn't seem to be on the list of surviving episodes. One of the Kaleidescope team recently recovered a missing Armchair Theatre though - not sure which one. Just struck me, is 'The Lover' the Pinter play with Vivien Merchant and Alan Badel, as that's not Armchair Theatre (or missing, I think)? Stuart
