More confirmed NFA info: Yes we hold these on film. Episode of Douglas Fairbanks Presents : The Auction beta.bfi.org.uk/4ce2b7fa8d49b... Douglas Fairbanks No we do not hold any of these titles. The Auction Bit of a puzzle there. One of these statements is wrong.

Not quite. To be exact, it's listed as "extract exists" www.btinternet.com/~m.brown1/tilldeat.htmThe BFI list having the episode, length 30 minutes, which sounds like the full episode. It's very possible that they only have the extract, and the '30 minutes' is wrong. It's worth checking out. Don't set your hopes too high, though.

Did you start your notes straight after the first episode? Or was it several weeks later, after you'd seen a few episodes?

There's quite a few Jackanory episodes. Anyone have a complete list of what's missing? The Lostshows index is more than slightly incomplete.
BFI lists having the story Anansi And The Tiger Stories which lostshows says is missing.

With the New Faces, it was just that lostshows hadn't been updated. A great many of those were only uncovered after the list was originally done. The shows were not originally listed at the archive holders, at least publicly....so in that instance, although not the BFI, it was not the makers of lostshows.com's fault! That's what I mean. And it could be a similar situation with some of the other shows too. Like the Ronnie Barker episodes. jgreen thinks they are already known.

Third possibility - the "missing" list is wrong, and some of these discoveries already exist. As happened with the New Faces list.

Amongst the many listed are: Mainly for Men. (With George Best and David Bailey). Are they all known? Mainly For Men never got beyond the pilot, and that was not broadcast. It was shown as part of TV Hell, a 'celebration' of the worst TV shows ever. So it certainly exists. www.imdb.com/title/tt0103561/

Oh. I misread that as a list of still missing episodes. Re-reading it, I see what it means.
Ah,well. I was first to find "the Auction" at least. (See the BFI thread)
