From the photo the set looks a bit big and grand for a TYLS programme...TYLS was a bit like TOTPs of it's day in which the fast turn around of pop hits each week meant there was no time to think about or build elaborate sets and so (as TOTPS) the sets had little depth as the one in the photo seems to show.. ..but I could be completely wrong. Looks like something that maybe? come from the movie 'A Matter of Who', which is now forgotten and quite obscure in the UK but seems to have a bit of a cult following elsewhere? . Thanks for that, Peter. I only have vague memories of watching TYLS so you could well be right. It's definitely not a film set, though, they only appeared in three and I've seen them all (their A Matter of WHO part was a house party scene). They appeared on several other TV shows, though, most of which I've never seen. We do know it was something before September 1961 because John Barry is still on trumpet, and the only one that could really fit apart from TYLS is "The Tin Pan Alley Show" from ATV in 1960. I wonder if that still exists?

This is a long-shot, I realise, but you never know. I'm currently co-writing a book on the history of The John Barry Seven. The band appeared on TYLS on four occasions, and sadly none of their episodes are known to exist. In 1961, this photo appeared in a concert brochure/programme, and it's believed it shows them "performing" on TYLS. Not much to go on, but I wondered if anybody who watched the programme regularly can say if the set looks as though it might be from TYLS? Thanks. Attachments:

PS Orange junked my websites! They wanted cash so I let them lapse. Hopefully one day I'll set up a more permanent TYLS website. Did you ever do anything about this, Kev? Or, if not, do you still have all the data? If so, a friend of mine might be interested in resurrecting it. Basically, he does the tech stuff and I pay for the hosting. It would be a shame if the info on the series exists but is not currently on-line. Well, just a suggestion.

Hello all, glad to participate on this wonderful forum and hope to find the answers to a few questions and, with luck, to supply a few answers of my own! In case it's of interest I'm pleased to say we've managed to reinstate the Oh Boy! website (without any pop-up adverts!) with a lot of help. I only wish we had news of more found episodes, but hope springs eternal, as they say. The new Oh Boy! website is here, a little biased towards the JB7, I know, but that's my specialist subject. ohboy.org.uk/

For anybody interested, this Helen Shapiro film is available as part of the "A Look at Life" series reissued on DVD sets by Network. This film is on the set titled "Look at Life: Volume 7 - Business and Industry".
I've bought most of the series and found 90% of them absolutely fascinating!
