I don't specifically refer to these recordings, but I've been told by one of the station's announcers that the problem is always money. There are a lot of recordings in the Sound Archive, obviously, but the Archive has only a limited budget. Radio 7 itself has no budget at all for restoration, and is entirely at the mercy of the Archive's whim as to what it's offered for broadcasting.
Restoration is always needed, in some form, before any analogue recording can be broadcast on a digital station such as Radio 7. And restoration costs money. Off-air recordings need far more work than something like a TS Disk. Yet - and here I do speak from personal experience - even restoration of a TS Disk is sometimes refused by the Sound Archive, due to the cost.
I was involved when the Archive was offered a TS Disk from 'Much Binding in the Marsh', which they declined on those grounds.
Even after CEDAR processing, a TS recording (particularly older ones) can still be too poor to broadcast. And the quality of off-air recordings is far more variable. Some simply cannot be made suitable for broadcasting, however much money is spent.

I follow BBC Radio 7's broadcasts closely, and can say positively that none of the programmes you've mentioned have ever been heard on that station.

There is a semi-complete collection of Parsley Sidings episodes at www.archive.org/details/ParsleySidings, including all of the BBC Radio 7 broadcasts. Does anyone have a link they can share to a better copy of either "The Goods Train" or "The Flower Show"? Both of those are very muffled at the above source. Similarly, can anyone help with a link to the two episodes not included there: "The Film Makers" and "The New Level Crossing"?

[ ]I'd be greedy and ask for two, lots of stories have just 2 missing, and it would be great if one of them like, Reign of terror, Crusade, moonbase, Ice Warriors or The Invasion turned up. Preferably one of the last 3 mentioned as the historical ones are a bit boring etc. If had to choose just one episode its got to Be either Tenth Planet 4 or colour ep3 Planet of Daleks, or Mission to unknown. So again a story is complete. If I could choose one story to turn up it would be The Web of Fear as Ep1 is brilliant

This really is a long shot, but what if there are any dr who fans who are also millionaire's, what would the chance being is said millionaire went to every TV station to purchase the show and checked every single film can contents for dr who - using a team of people and money as no object.
I would do it if I had a 10 mill lotto win!!.
I bet some would turn up

The BBC's "Treasure Hunt" team was disbanded ages ago, so any enquiries sent to them will not now receive a reply.
You are welcome to send actual material to the Sound Archives, on cassette or reel, but they basically won't respond to any correspondence.
The address is BBC Sound Archive, PO BOX 30871, London W12 6GL

The Peter Jones recording looks to be a lost item. There is nothing in the BBC's programme catalogue under Peter's name that looks to be this programme. catalogue.bbc.co.uk/catalogue/infax/contributor/1358There's nothing listed for Harry Towb, either, that might be this. catalogue.bbc.co.uk/catalogue/infax/contributor/6028Alison Steadman's surviving radio work does not include the programme you mention, so this is apparantly a lost item too. catalogue.bbc.co.uk/catalogue/infax/contributor/13641If you want to share these recordings, digitise them and upload them to usenet (alt.binaries.sounds.radio.bbc) or to the Internet Archive (www.archive.org). You could send a copy of the cassette to the BBC archives, addressed to: Treasure Hunt, BBC Sound Archive, PO BOX 30871, London W12 6GL
