Looked up my BBC TV dvd for the 27th September 1964 and unfortunately it only shows BBC1 listings for that day not BBC2
BUT....a friend of mine has given me this information to post...
according to TV Pop Diaries, the Groups were The Southerners, is this the same The Southerners that Jimmy Page was in? The Connoisseurs, does anyone on forum know who they were, did any members become part of another group The Starfires, same The Apaches, same Formula Five, same The Down-Beats, same The Vibros., same The Countdowns, same Ray Stevart & The Cyclones, same Danny Clarke & The Jaguars, same The Crusaders, same

I agree with you Ronnie; I liked the whole series and I would have watched a series which included English teams as well if a series had been commissioned.

Thanks Ronnie, I remember the That Was The Team That Was series and very good it was too...it deserved to be rolled out nationally I will seek out the series on YouTube. I cannot understand the lack of interest from down south? just think off all the stories that could be told.
I'd like to see one of those pirate copies from 1975 I'd even put up with the bad quality.

Hibs played Leeds on 10/01/68 in the Inter Cities Fairs Cup.
The night before 09/01/68 Liverpool played Ferencvaro's in a 2nd leg Inter Cities Fairs Cup leg match.
This is held at the BFI on VHS and DB... edited highlights 30.32 mins... Granada Television Productions... Cast Gerry Loftus, final score 0-1.
Also held at the BFI, is Lèeds v Bologna 09/04/67 in the Inter Cities Fairs Cup, edited highlights 39 minutes, on VHS and DB, Granada Television Productions. Cast Gerry Loftus.
There is a fair chance that ITV hold these then they may well hold Hibs v Leeds from the evening after?

You might think about trying Leeds Utd supporters' clubs. I know fans of my club (Wrexham) have been chasing up footage of our European games in the 1970s for years now; maybe Leeds fans have been doing the same. And even if they haven't, you essentially double the numbers of people out there looking! And if you *really* want to go to town when it comes to Hibs footage in European competition, you could try the Doctor Who approach, and 1) get a list of all the European matches Hibs ever played; 2) find out who are the principal broadcasting corporations in each country they played in; and 3) write a formal letter to their archives asking if they have any footage of the away ties. Time-consuming, and no certainty of success, but you never know. (As a DW fan, I can assure you it works out beautifully sometimes!...) It would help if you had some sort of affiliation, mind. Are you writing a book for a publisher, maybe, or perhaps you could get the blessing of the Hibs supporters' club? *cjones googles "hibs in Europe"* Wow. Just wow. You played *lots* in Europe, didn't you? Barca, AS Roma, Utrecht, Red Star Belgrade... and that's just in the 1960s! Can't help but wonder what might be in the Dutch TV archives, or Madrid... That's a good idea to contact the Leeds Utd supporters club I'll try that. I might also try the "Dr Who" approach. I am considering a book that would be nice...I have lots of time on my hands so it would keep me occupied. Hibs did play a lot in Europe in the 60's and 70's but not so much these days...but hopefully we'll be back in Europe at the end of this season? barring a collapse of form. It could be interesting to know what goodies are maybe in the Dutch TV archives? wonder if any Hibs affiliated researcher has ever tried them?

I do have contacts in TV archives but you will appreciate I can't continually bombard them with queries William particularly as searches can be much more complicated and time consuming than just typing a programmes title into a database. I have seen footage of the Hibs V Liverpool match from 1975 and Leeds V Hibs from 73. I would say there is an outside chance that BBC Scotland more than STV may have footage from the 1968 game but I would just be speculating without confirmation. Who knows it may be lurking in a vault but I wouldnt hold your breath about seeing it anytime soon! I understand Ronnie....I can't recall seeing footage from Leeds vs Hibs in 1973 can I ask you where that footage is available from? I have seen the Joe Harper goal against Liverpool at Easter Road in 1975 Thanks for the tip off that it's more likely that BBC Scotland have footage than STV (maybe I should get in touch with them for what it's worth)

Thanks for the update Ronnie ...sorry I got the wrong end of the stick...wow to think that STV and BBC showed the Hibs vs Leeds Utd game.
I hesitate to ask as I am dreading the answer ...but here goes do you think or do you know if any footage survives?
I suppose if any footage does survive then it would have been re-shown

Hi,
Whilst I was at the library today primarily to do research on the football team I support Hibs (Hibernian) I noticed that on Wednesday the 10/01/68 a programme entitled (Scotland late) showed footage of the 2nd leg match between Hibs vs Leeds Utd at Easter Road in the old "Fairs Cup"
It was shown between 10:30pm and 11:15pm
I know it's a very long shot but does anyone heard of this show or know the likelihood of this show having somehow survived?
