This is the STV schedule for the 11th May 1973 which shows the first episode of (Scotch on the Rocks) Below is the Edinburgh Evening News synopsis of the first episode ... Bill Simpson, who starred in "Dr Finlay's Casebook," plays a totally contrasting role in "Scotch on the Rocks," the new five-part thriller series which has been adapted by James MacTaggart from the best-selling novel by Douglas Hurd and Andrew Osmond (BBC1 9:25)
He plays MacNair, an explosives expert, infiltrated by British intelligence into the outer fringes of a Scottish revolutionary group in an attempt to discover the identity of their secret leader - An Ceannard - a man who will declare himself at the moment of destiny. Is the leader just a wild man of the glens or is he a professional revolutionary ?
MacNair finds that there are plenty of suspects.
Maria Aitken, John Cairney, Iain Cuthbertson, Clinton Greyn, Leonard Maguire, and Maurice Roeves play important roles and filming took place in the locations of the story - from London, Blackpool and Hexham to Glasgow, Edinburgh, Stirling and the dramatic scenery of the Highlands.Attachments:
