I love that you have a diagram for this Are there more? It was quite easy to do as there were only three sets of prints. The info came from BroaDWcast and Wiped. Well done - always good to give credit to the researchers John.

Ever thought what would be lost if Google / YouTube went belly up? Good point. The VHS tapes from which many of these poor quality transfers come have probably been binned already in many cases. So they're already some way along the road to extinction. Interesting point yes if YT were to disapear. But on the plus side its certain that anything of interest on there will have been downloaded multiple times so there will be more copies out there than before.

Life's too short - that's Jake banned. 80 odd posts and about half of them pointless, argumentative or ill mannered. (first person I've had to ban in what must be about a decade modding on here). Jake was coming accross a bit like a kid with a new toy. Presumably having recently discovered this forum he seemed to want to post and start threads on a more than daily basis - and some of them pointless. More often than not in the wrong section too. A bit of an attention seeker, perhaps overeager to get himself known on the forum although he certainly succeeded there. Harmless of course and he could be ignored but for me he was starting to become a bit of an irritant. Don't know what he'll do with himself now though!

Well you certainly did the right thing by only mentioning it on here AFTER the auction had ended. Never understood why people do that so well done!

On a slightly different but similar note I recall from many years back - probably late 1980s - it was reported that one of the few Blue Peters from the late 1960s which was missing was the edition which featured the winners of the Design A Monster/Beat the Daleks competition form 1967. There was a suggestion it had mysteriously vanished but it has clearly turned up since.

I did mention previously I remember a review from the time in one of the many fanzines available then. Basically it said the play was drivel from start to finish although this was just one attendees opinion. I will still have the publication somewhere but it would take too long to search through boxes of fanzines. I have a hunch it may have been the DWAS' Tardis but perhaps another.

Thanks for the feedback. At least you have a definitive answer if not the one you were looking for.

It was from 1984 and there may very well have been a recording made. I remember attending a small event with Richard Franklin and Terrance Dicks around this time organised by the Edinburgh Dr Who group. One of them was present with a camcorder which required a standard VHS tape hence the bulkiness of the machine. Surprising how long it took for JVC to come up with compact VHS thus reducing the size. I suspect the same group were involved in the stage play. It may be that any footage did not survive of course but one name I remember regarding Recall Unit was Liam Rudden who until recently worked for the Edinburgh Evening News. You might ask him as he appears to be on twitter. I do remember one scathing review of the show from the fan press but I did not attend myself.

I am sure there must be quite a few on this board, myself included, who are aware of people who have missing material in their collections. Whilst we would all encourage such people to return the programmes there is only so much can be done. Outing the material, if not the identity of the owners, would not be the best way to persuade collectors to `do the right thing.` If there was a thread on here devoted to missing material known to be in existence it could be extremely detrenental to recoveries and a bit irresponsible with impatient requests for updates - as with the above Dr Whos - and pms flying about seeking the identities of the owners.

Shibaden format was too late for a UK recording anyway - it was released 1968 amd TP4 was broadcast 1966. Unless it came from Australia- last repeats across the districts was may/June 1968, which just about makes it possible[/quote]
Yes but the ruse was that a copy had been transferred onto the Shibaden tape at a later date. Think it was also claimed to have Tenth Planet 3.

Who remembers the tenth planet part 4 situation the tape was blank after it was played. We have have been here before. I think quiet rightly the BBC would proceed with caution if a similar situation ever materializes again. The bottom line is the cans can say what they like it's the contents that are key Did they actually get a tape? What format was it - vhs / betamax/ 1or2 inch reel to reel? The tape which was supplied was Shibaden

It's amazing just how many of these types of show were made in the Sixties - and as William notes - the '50s also, considering there were only two channels. Guess it was the age of Flying Saucer sightings and the Space Race. And of course there were many similar US shows in those days too, many of which were aired in the UK.

Any updates on this? I fear we'll only get thise episodes back when they die, and that could be YEARS away, ullnless we convince them to teturn them. The fact that nothing has been posted here for over 2 years tells you what you need to know. I know you're enthusiastic, but you don't need to keep digging up old threads. Whenever I log into the Dr Who page and notice that four or five threads have all recently had the last post by the same member I fear the worst. But welcome to the forum Angel!
