now that im posting in the right thread (sorry Laurence) did anybody else notice that the cover art (which i presume is a mock up ) strangely mentions stories by Ray Bradbury and Philip k Dick ! as Bradburys "Fox and the Forrest" only has clips surviving , and Phil K Dick never wrote for OOTU , (but interestingly wrote "Imposter" for Out Of This World.... ) the mind boggles....! (probably just an in-joke by somebody at the BFI, but a tantalizing one.... )

Nice one,Neil. I was wondering about the probity of saying "stories by...",given that there'd be screen-writers involved.Fair enough,they're 'based on big-name stories.Picky,picky!

I really hope they include the fragmentary audio recordings from episodes such as "The Prophet" and "Get Off My Cloud" and the Australian censor clips!

The Prophet might be tricky as it was based on a Issac Asimov short story.
I've heard a clip of it & it sounds good, & the robot costumes were re-used in The Mind Robber.

Let's hope the series is given all the restoration work it needs, including vidFIRE if the telerecordings can be polished up enough to make it worthwhile. I don't think I'd buy it without at least a reasonable amount of restoration work and I suspect I'm not alone in that.

I don't think I'd buy it without at least a reasonable amount of restoration work and I suspect I'm not alone in that. Being as it's the BFI (and also probably on a shoestring budget anyway), I'd rule out VidFire (sadly), which is also the way I'd want to watch it myself ideally. I would expect decent prints / masters to be used though. I'll still buy it whatever as - to me - it's a very important series and one we've been waiting decades for a release of. So I won't quibble! If it was a toss up between VidFire and more episodes being recovered though, I'd go for the latter any day! This really is a series that should be more complete than it is.

Excellent news!!! One of the few remaining items on my wish list (of things that actually exist that is). Can't wait to get this for my shelf

I'm pointing out that VidFire is not the most important element here in the scheme of things. What matters is that the series out at all, rather than quibbling over secondary points (nice though it would be, we all know it isn't a "goer" on a BFI release).

Presumably you intended 'released' rather than 'recovered' in your earlier post - it was the suggestion of that wording that you thought more (missing) episodes could be recovered if vidFIRE was sacrificed which I was responding to.

" no disrespect to anybody who has restored or vidfired anything , but i miss film weave and bob too..........

Ah, yes. I see what you mean! No - there are no missing eps being held back as ransom unless VidFire was sacrificed (not that I know of anyway - no one's even mentioned that one with reference to any possible Philip Morris scenario - yet! )

What episodes missing have telesnaps?

Most of the episodes missing from the first two series. I have a feeling that there are telesnaps for S3, that Alan Bromly owned, but I've never seen those.
