Unknown. I know that there's been research here on AFRTS. The post also doesn't read like a joke to me, so it could be legit. We'll probably here more once they're home. I did ask in the other thread if Paul was kept abreast of the AFRTS research. If anything he could at least look into a few things over there. But I'm not sure how busy he is with whatever current project he's got going on.
Paul's done a lot of traveling though this year. I'm jealous. It sounds really fun. Wish I could be an assistant for whatever project they're doing.

I'm sure we all hope it's true.

With our luck it'll be like Taiwan all over again. 9 random episodes, none of which are missing, except one is Web 6 ... if it were only discovered a year previous! But any and all research is important. I'm proud for the work people on this forum have done in researching AFRTS and they should be very proud too. It really expands our knowledge about Doctor Who.

I'd reckon it's a needless windup or "zany gag remark" that will go down like a lead balloon. There's enough nonsense spoken on the ME topic, why add to it? Counter-stupidity?? But maybe it's more of the sort of thing we heard of recently, eps that aren't missing but found in an unexpected place. Actual finds of still missing material would be wondrous, to put it mildly, but I'll believe it when I see it...

At face value it's nine missing episodes.

It just doesn't read like a zany gag remark to me. In any case, I'm sure if it is something they'll talk about it once home. My fingers are crossed.

Certainly, no smiles here. But someone fed up with the rampant speculation and rumour mill might see that as a snarky rejoinder worth making. It's very clearly a reference to Phil's returns and the Indiana Jones bit the media trotted out re the finds. Now, for whose benefit that Twitter post was written and why, I know not. Whether it's genuinely good natured and there has been a discovery or there's a leg-pull being conducted, I can't tell. I really hope you're right, Mark! But if sources close to Paul V are getting in on the ME tale-spinning lark, and the Tweet is revealed to be either gross exaggeration or deliberate distortion, it will be a definite faux pas.

Keaton has made clear that he was trying to just rib PV a bit and not cause any sort of conflict within the forums. I'm glad that he apologized. Oh well. Back to the search.

If he doesn't know how to use Twitter or a calendar, I suppose we should cut him some slack huh? Oh well, so it goes. Thanks for the update, Mark!

Sounds like he is unaware of what has been going on the Internet for the last year. Ever since DWO began to leak information with that Bleeding Cool website about lost episodes being found, Doctor Who fans have been checking the Internet for any potential information they could find pertaining to missing episodes. When they see anything like what was tweeted, they are going to hope that is true. It's a good thing he didn't start naming stories. That could have really gotten ugly.

It was supposed to be a private joke (yup, private as in via Twitter) with PV. Read it all the way through and you'll see it's a wind up. PV also posted a picture via Twitter for The Roof of the World as a bit of fun. Some people have got very wound up about both of these Tweets but it's just a bit of gentle fun
