Hello All,
As you might have seen in the general TV forum, I'm putting together an article for Cracked.com on missing episodes of TV shows.
Naturally, this list is going to include Dr. Who. The editor who reviewed my first draft said he wants more info on what we're missing out on. But I've only recently gotten into the show myself, so I don't know much about the lost episodes.
So, which episodes/story arcs are the most desired, story-wise?

I don't know, but I'd personally say everything missing from The Smugglers through to The Faceless Ones would be a particularly important run - the end of Hartnell and the beginning of Troughton, and the fact that most episodes in that range are missing.

Generally considered to be great stories: (or ones that always get a mention):
Marco Polo The Daleks Master Plan The Tenth Planet The Power of the Daleks The Evil of the Daleks The Abominable Snowmen The Enemy of the World (found) The Web of Fear (mostly found) Fury from the Deep
Generally considered to be poor stories:
The Space Pirates

Web and Enemy were always at the top of my list. This week is like a dream come true.
Next, in ordewr of preference: Power of the Daleks ep 1, Evil of the Daleks final episode, Masterplan final episode, and Mythmakers final episode.

Enemy is an interesting situation. It's long be regarded as "not the best" by the fandom, but it's a political story and not a monster story. As children they probably didn't enjoy/appreciate it ... and for many years now as adults it was hard to appreciate it with only one episode (episode 3) in the archive.
Now that it is back, it will be interesting to see how it fares a revisitation by these fans.
As for the other stories, generally the following are the most talked/desired:
Marco Polo The Dalek's Masterplan The Tenth Planet The Power of the Daleks The Evil of the Daleks The Web of Fear Fury from the Deep

Web was on the top of my original list (though more then a little disappointed they didn't find 3) I think my top 5 would be
Fury of the Deep Power of the Daleks Evil of the Daleks Abominable Snowmen Wheel in Space

Web of Fear episode 3 Tenth Planet episode 4 Power of the Daleks Evil of the Daleks Dalek Master Plan I'm not a Dalek obsessive but from what I've read and seen of those 3 classics, they are well plotted, exciting and way ahead of their 1960s airing time (yes I know that's the whole point of the show but they seem to have very high production values)

The Macra Terror The Massacre The Savages Parts 2 and 4 of the Crusade
Obviously Power and Evil, but the above are more feasible in actually turning up.

Obviously Power and Evil, but the above are more feasible in actually turning up. Any reason why some are seen as more likely to turn up than others?

Aside from the obvious Tenth Planet 4 my current ones are
Dalek's Master Plan (esp ep 4 and 12) The Massacre Power of the Daleks The Macra Terror Abominble Snowman
All based on how much i enjoyed listening to them.
Although anything from Season 4 would be good now as its so poorly represented.

Actually my 3 are personal favourites - but outside that I completely agree with some of the others in that season 4 is in most need of a completed story. Power of the Daleks would be the dream I think? But I'll plump the the last historical story of the 60's - The Highlanders
