There's some great clips from JK's show on youtube. He posted that he bought the rights to an hour's worth of shows of 13 that were there. He chose talk rather than music and that's all there is now. Though he does direct the viewer to Related Videos for the music perfs.
JK is a controversial figure for several reasons, but it seems as far as his work went, he cared about what he did.

The interview with Robert Blake is incredible, he becomes pretty angry towards the end, amazing that this was shown on ITV in a Saturday tea-time slot. www.youtube.com/watch?v=Y76NMeYypt0I had a look through the TVTimes copies I have for the London region but no details of guests are given, just the same paragraph every week - “And welcome, gentle viewers. My name is Jonathan King. If you want to be groovy, and want to know why, if you want to be way out in advance, let me be your leader. Pop, films, theatre, books, politics even - it’s all here." The series was not shown by all regions. ABC, Anglia, TWW, Ulster, Border and Scottish all opted out, though Midlands viewers had the opportunity to watch it via ATV late on Monday nights (around 11:30pm).

What a pity JK didn't save the Zappa interview.

Syd, This is a Frank Zappa Interview taken from the pages of DISC and Music Echo dated the 30/09/67 (the very same day as his appearance on the "Good Evening" I'm Jonathan King show.) This gives us an indication of where his mind was at this at this particular period

Thanks William for that entertaining article.
A few more things to add -
Yoko Ono appeared on show 2 (07/Oct/1967) talking about a dance festival that would only exist in people's thoughts. Beatles movie director Dick Lester appeared on 30/Dec/1967. The final six editions went out in the London region in a very late Saturday night slot to make way for "Time For Blackburn" (I'm sure King would have loved that!), the last programme tx'd on 30/Mar/1968.

Thanks for the info Syd, we are slowly piecing together the guests who appeared on the show, wish JK had decided to keep the music side of things rather that the talk side.

I think I've now managed to date all of the surviving clips that Jonathan uploaded, which are all sourced from 1968 editions (not 1967 as he claims on his youtube channel), so I'd guess that the first 13 or so editions had been wiped before he had a chance to select the clips for his compilation. Interestingly, all of the other regions (including the Monday night Midlands) had dropped the series by the start of January 1968 with some taking Tony Blackburn's "New Release" instead - which ultimately forced ATV London to do the same, albeit under Blackburn's revamped title. Had I been a teenager living in London at the time I'd have been upset to see King's series axed as Blackburn clearly wouldn't have had guests of the caliber of Zappa, Ono and Hendrix, "Time For Blackburn" would have probably felt like a dumbing down, though happily BBC1 filled the gap later in the year with "How it is".
Show 1 - ATV London Saturday 30th September 1967, 6:30-7:00pm (Interview with Frank Zappa) Show 2 - ATV London Saturday 7th October 1967, 6:30-7:00pm (Yoko Ono talks about a dance festival which would only exist in people's thoughts / The Foundations) Show 3 - ATV London Saturday 14th October 1967, 6:30-7:00pm (Jimi Hendrix Experience "Burning of the Midnight Lamp" insert rec 13/10/67, this clip was also shown on French TV and survives) Show 4 - ATV London Saturday 21st October 1967, 6:30-7:00pm (Peter Frampton and Andy Bown) Show 5 - ATV London Saturday 28th October 1967, 6:30-7:00pm Show 6 - ATV London Saturday 4th November 1967, 5:50-6:15pm Show 7 - ATV London Saturday 11th November 1967, 5:50-6:15pm (Barry and Maurice Gibb interview) Show 8 - ATV London Saturday 18th November 1967, 5:50-6:15pm (Jimi Hendrix interview rec 15-Nov / Spencer Davis Group) Show 9 - ATV London Saturday 25th November 1967, 5:50-6:15pm (The Herd) Show 10 - ATV London Saturday 2nd December 1967, 5:50-6:15pm Show 11 - ATV London Saturday 9th December 1967, 5:50-6:15pm (Jimi Hendrix Experience "Spanish Castle Magic" rec 08-Dec / Cat Stevens) Show 12 - ATV London Saturday 16th December 1967, 5:50-6:15pm No programme on 23rd December 1967 due to an extended edtion of "Opportunity Knocks!" Show 13 - ATV London Saturday 30th December 1967, 5:50-6:15pm (Plastic Penny / Spencer Davis / Dick Lester) Show 14 - ATV London Saturday 6th January 1968, 5:50-6:15pm (Eric Burdon / Manfred Mann) Show 15 - ATV London Saturday 13th January 1968, 5:50-6:15pm Show 16 - ATV London Saturday 20th January 1968, 5:50-6:15pm (The Move "Fire Brigade" / Plastic Penny) Show 17 - ATV London Saturday 27th January 1968, 5:50-6:15pm Show 18 - ATV London Saturday 3rd February 1968, 5:50-6:15pm (Love Affair / Carl Wayne taking part in a discussion on the rock n roll revival, exists) Show 19 - ATV London Saturday 10th February 1968, 5:50-6:15pm Show 20 - ATV London Saturday 17th February 1968, 5:50-6:15pm Show 21 - ATV London Saturday 24th February 1968, 11:20-11:45pm (Probably the date of the surviving clip with Cathy McGowen, Diana Rigg etc. discussing marriage and relationships, leap year seems to be the catalyst for this segment and there would be a 29th February 5 days later) Show 22 - ATV London Saturday 2nd March 1968, 11:20-11:45pm Show 23 - ATV London Saturday 9th March 1968, 11:20-11:45pm Show 24 - ATV London Saturday 16th March 1968, 11:20-11:45pm (Bernard Levin and Paul Johnson on the Vietnam situation ahead of tomorrow's London protests, exists) Show 25 - ATV London Saturday 23rd March 1968, 11:20-11:45pm Show 26 - ATV London Saturday 30th March 1968, 11:20-11:45pm (Actor Robert Blake, exists - King mentions that the film "opened in London this week" so this interview has to be from the last edition)

Thanks for pointing it out, a definite highlight of the series no doubt.

One thing I'd say is that surely the interview would'nt have been dull? as Pete Townshend arguably, always has something interesting/controversial to say
