I thought the unrecoverable Morecambe and Wise was from their first BBC series?
This was a non BBC programme.

Yes, Paul said not Doctor Who, not Dad's Army, not Our Man at St. Mark's announced by Kaleidoscope the day before and not BBC...
Paul Vanezis Not Dad's Army. In fact, not BBC. Should be able to say in a couple of weeks. 5:20pm - 27 Jul 13
Paul Vanezis Fingers crossed in a couple of weeks. Not in my hands yet and I'd rather be certain of the title. Not BBC though. 5:21pm - 27 Jul 13

No, I'm talking about the unrecoverable Morecambe & Wise being (or not being) a BBC show. Where was it stated that it wasn't? I'm just curious to know as I didn't think it had been made clear one way or the other.

Cheers Mark. So is this episode the one which was beyond recovery then? Previously to this, I recall Tim Disney returned one (virtually complete) print of a show from the same series. Does it now make two in all existing or just the one plus an unrecoverable print? Just wanting to be clear on this as chinese whispers and heresay can distort the truth!

Does it now make two in all existing or just the one plus an unrecoverable print? Just wanting to be clear on this as chinese whispers and heresay can distort the truth! Two have been recovered. One found by Tim Disney (which is almost complete, minus opening. Colour recovered clips were used in M&W: The Whole Story). The other found by TIEA is, sadly, now a can of soup. So only one episode from that first series exists. Off air audio exists for all seven shows (an extract from one of these was used in M&W: The Whole Story, also).

Off air audio exists for all seven shows (an extract from one of these was used in M&W: The Whole Story, also). That makes sense. The source in Australia had already been wondering if that was "his" audio. Originally there was going to be an audio book with the audio but the BBC couldn't get the necessary permission from their agents.
