I imagine it's someone who posts on here!
Research doesn't through up a name, it does give an address in Leyland, Lancs.

Couldn't it just be possible that there are people who live in and around Blackpool who aren't he who shall not be named.

It's more than just a possibility, there's 140,000 people that live in Blackpool! That being said, the number who hoax about missing Doctor Who is significantly lower, I'd bet! But, of course, you're right. We shouldn't jump to any conclusions. Could just be a keen fan.

Worth emphasising at this stage that as has been mentioned above, there are lots of people who live in and around Blackpool, and I suspect more than one of those people is a Dr Who fan. Seeing as Darren Gregory is only one person (despite his best efforts to convince us otherwise), it's reasonable to surmise that not every Dr Who fan from the Blackpool area is a hoaxing piece of rubbish.

Could be a ruse to bring collectors who own missing episodes out into the open. He's probably hoping that at least some episodes will bob up,or at least concrete leads...

Leyland, nice place, about half an hour from Blackpool Rob, in a later post, is correct. Plenty of Doctor Who fans in Blackpool (there's even a shop). I only live 10 miles from Leyland myself. And no, it isn't mine.

Whoever it is has no clue what he's talking about - what is a telecine film? And this is pretty funny: "Celluloid is highly flammable and also easily decomposes, and is no longer widely used. Its most common uses today are in and guitar picks ". Film base is cellulose acetate (or polyester mainly these days) - and is decidedly NOT flammable. My guess is that this person wants missing episodes rather than episodes in general ... Maybe I should offer him a print for, say, £10,000 and see what he says... He's being just a bit misleading -- trying also get them cheap by claiming that they are "old unwanted celluloid" rather than "valuable collectibles"....

P.Crawford, how did you find this site ?
If this person is serious about wanting old telerecordings, did s/he bid for the recent Tenth Planet / Unearthly Child auctions on ebay ?
And I suppose the most important question from our point of view is, if they did manage to find / buy a missing episode from somewhere, what would happen to it ?

I did a google search for 'Doctor who film collector' and it was on the third page. I reckon that it belongs to someone who frequents this site but deceided to ask anyway since the tone of the page comes off as someone who might possibly want to hoard material.

DNS gave me the address of the site (which appears to be down right now). Running a WHOIS query on the site gave me an address that Yell claims is a timber merchants. Which is interesting.
