I think it turned out that formal letters from that part of the world usually include the phrase "In the name of Allah" at the start, so the story probably got corrupted from that.

The NZBC sent eps 1 and 2 of Doctor Who - Marco Polo to Iran on 20 October 1967. Why just those two is not clear - but we know eps 3-7 were cut by the NZ censor, so perhaps Iran didn't want cut film prints...? So we know for sure that story went there - but who in their right mind would fly over to check! Jon Preddle

I still think that the fact that the NZBC sent episodes 1 & 2 of Marco Polo to Iran is odd
not the least bit because they would have been english language prints which is more likely to explain why the remainder of the story wasnt sent there.....
also it seems way out of the usual cycle run ( ie asian pacific rim countries were the main areas we forwarded Who to ....)

Can't we just try to talk to Iran again? This has already been done and Iran has been ruled out. Ian Levine no longer has any involvement in communicating with foreign TV archives about missing Doctor Who. We should just be thankful for his role in the 70s/80s finds.

Your enthusiasm is very nice but Mr V and his crack team of experts have covered every broadcasting angle around the world. The search goes on. No need to go through a list of countries
