fkmjhnbk;mdfjniplhm Anyway, it might be an idea for all those people who are so HORRIBLY certain this new rumour is rubbish to avoid making hostages to fortune over it. Certainly, no-one will feel bad about being wrong over it, but as I said above: if any find was worth keeping under wraps until the 50th, this is it...and those being slapped down in classic Missing Episodes.com 'be silent, you grubby little peasant' fashion for thinking the rumour MAY be true will be owed apologies that no-one will even consider giving them. So, don't act like an stereotypical arrogant uberfan prat to start with, eh what? "You don't know the truth, so stop pretending you do" is good advice for BOTH sides in this faintly inane debate. The Tenth Planet DVD is no indicator of the rumour's veracity, as some claim, for the simple reason that Part 4 may not be among the episodes recovered. The delay in bringing out Underwater Menace #2 is no bellweather, either, as it's quite likely that the Beeb want to animate the two missing(?) segments and sell us Part 3 all over again within a new release. We will know in a few months either way. Debate til then is *desperately* pointless, and is reminiscent of village idiots yelling at each other at the bottom of a well. I will now fall silent on this matter forever. hear hear ! its all very "schrodingers cat" at the moment

This guy in Africa isn't by any chance a retired projectionist from Lagos who showed the Web of Fear in his Cinema in the 1980s ?

I'm all for the wait and see option... If something is being negotiated for and there is a "hold fire until it's back" policy I'm all for that. Yes as we get further and further away from when the episodes were made there is less chance of something coming back, but as fans we kept waiting ages for a new series... look what happened (oh yeah... we got ropey internet copies and said it was rubbish!!!) Bad analogy i know but hey!!! There are rumours of something seperate from the "mother lode" coming back knowing where information is sourced from I am quietly optimistic. But until i hold the shiny DVD in my sweaty mitt, i'm not going to hold my breath...

I agree and I suspect the wildly optimistic are setting themselves up for a great deal of disappointment when it turns out not to be true.

I find it odd that DWM would publish a magazine devoted to Hartnell's missing episodes if a whole batch had been found.I also find it unbelievable that posterity has suddenly decided to conjure up a whole slew of missing episodes of Doctor Who just because it's the 50th Anniversary of the show.I get the feeling that people are trying to put an imaginary icing on the birthday cake. It's just wish fulfillment by fans, but hey,I could be wrong!

There's been stories around since the last find of someone with some more, so I can well believe that there's more to come from that last shipment of films back from Oz in 75 or whatever. But an eccentric engineer travelling round africa shipping film canisters back to Blighty (albeit my uncle was an eccentric engineer who travelled round africa!) and a secret plot to make a cartoon as a cover-up for the real TP4 having been found, just have me checking my calendar for 1st April, I'm afraid.

Two points: 1) DWM would not automatically know about any such find. 2) "Suddenly" doesn't really come into it as this rumour has been doing the rounds for well over a year.

Taking the middle ground as above makes perfect sense, nothing wrong with quiet optimism, it sums up how I feel about this. I just hope that if, and I mean if, there is something to this, that it is a case of "hold fire till its back" and not anything to do with delaying the release of information until the "best" date for whatever reason.

You do realise that what you say you're agreeing to there is not actually what he said? His last sentence is what I am agreeing with. This rumour is all a load of Bisto. We all know this deep in our hearts. I admire the restraint Outpost Skaro has shown, as demonstrated by Eddie's tweets Can we all just get over this and realise that the rumours have been debunked by those in the know. If there is anything to them then there may be good reason why nothing is being said. All of the people believing this, and there is no evidence presented for it. As I say, and I know it riles some but please, this is ALL Bisto.

'Suddenly' is relative even though the rumour has been around for the last year. It's taken 30 years to locate 30 episodes so 42 in 12 months is 'suddenly'!

If the rumour has been circulating that long then it is inconceivable that DWM do not know. IF it was true. But we know it is not.
