24/04/2012 Magpie Dear Mum, Love Andrew Thames 24.36 EAFA DISCOVERY Ray Langstone 01/01/1975 16mm www.eafa.org.uk/catalogue/593 This was one of my "wrong archive" discoveries, i.e a discovery that would more likely be in the hands of, in this case, Fremantle or the BFI. I have now dated it:- 24/10/75 ""Missing or incomplete episodes for programme MAGPIE. Series 8 24.10.75 Episode 32 (missing)"" So I was right; officially it's missing believed wiped - though this proves it exists at EAFA.

A correction:- THIS IS WRONG - ""19/05/2011 Sunday Night at the London Palladium Series 3 featuring Max Bygraves ATV 5.01 Huntley Archive Discovery Ray Langstone 01/12/1959 unsure www.huntleyarchives.com/viewsynop....ord2=&keyword3= Excerpt from show"" THIS IS CORRECT:- ""Missing episode in programme (VAL PARNELL'S) SUNDAY NIGHT AT THE LONDON PALLADIUM. Series 3 16.02.58 with Max Bygraves, Dickie Henderson, The Kaye Sisters, The Clark Brothers, The Tiller Girls (missing)"" ""Huntley Archive Film 17409 - Synopsis: Ludovic Kennedy presents extract from 'Sunday Night at the London Palladium' Max Bygraves, the Kaye sisters, song and dance routine. Dicky Valentine, Val Parnell in a box in the audience. Variety style acts. Television studios at Hackney, Highbury. Ludovic Kennedy talks to camera to explain about the various studios ATV has around the UK. Good behind the scenes look at studios, set painting, cameras, lighting, control panel of producer and director. Kennedy introduces the Paladium as another venue that ATV broadcasts from. Cut to Paladium. Curtain drawn back from stage to reveal a set like rooms in an apartment block. Women dancers in the rooms. Male dancers come on stage and woo the women. Women come down. They are in 1950's fashion. Song and dance routine. Kaye sisters. Max Bygraves. Chorus line."" Happy to correct myself. This is the film of Ludovic Kennedy (pre-Rochdale by-election) introducing a bit of a 'VAL PARNELL'S SUNDAY NIGHT AT THE LONDON PALLADIUM'. No idea of the purpose of why the promotional film was made, but as it turned out, this show was wiped later on. I spotted this in the Huntley Archive a few years ago - and it's from the Palladium programme from 16th February 1958. Oh, the clip:- www.youtube.com/watch?v=RR5lZna2J5Q

And also, one I neglected before (due to a tx date screw-up); the repeat of the episode of "the Messengers (episode the Persuaders)".
This was remade in color in 1971, and a repeat of the show from 1976 exists in the NAEA.
