Morning, folks!
This is a dedicated thread into which Ray (and indeed anyone else) can report items which appear to be held in any of the film/VT libraries that are listed online. It should hopefully make it easier to keep track of such finds, and should avoid the forum getting to clogged up with multiple threads.
As such, please try to avoid starting new threads for finds that would be best included in here.
Thanks! Rob

Hi JG. I think Passport to Danger was an entirely American based and filmed show that was shown in the UK in 1956 a couple of years after the US transmission. but hey somebosy else might know better?

The BFI ftvdb.bfi.org.uk/sift/title/93460 and Unionsearch have what seems to be a missing 'Magpie' special called 'Breaking the Silence'. The only problem is that Lost Shows has it from 1972 ftvdb.bfi.org.uk/sift/title/93460 ,the BFI 1975.A follow up? Shown on different dates in different regions? Or has this one been done before? Could we have an update on 'Magpie'? Lost Shows says both "out of almost 1000 episodes, only 60 survive, mainly filmed specials,as well as film sequences from some 150 other episodes",and later,"Out of 944 episodes,862 are missing, with 7 incomplete".869 from 944 leaves 75. www.lostshows.com/default.aspx?programme=4bc9b023-e727-46b1-ad84-a419d2f05964 This is another odd one ftvdb.bfi.org.uk/sift/title/93003 The BFI say that one can view the videocassette of 'Kids in the Country' (1975) on request. It has the same precis as the missing 29/12/1972 'Magpie Special:Kids in the Country'.The production company for the videocassette is given as Thames...

It looks like some of the film ones went into educational distribution which is why the BFI list them with different copyright years. The way to confirm what they have and haven't got is to use the new look BFI database which gives details of holdings. I think the database is still only in test form but it seems to work pretty well: collections-search.bfi.org.uk/webIf you go to the advance search option and search by series title it should bring up all of them with a symbol to say if they hold anything.

Another missing colour edition of the 'Hippodrome' show turned up on The BBC Imagine programmes featuring Woody Allen 24/7/13. It featured Woody Boxing a kangaroo.

Oh I forgot to check Youtube first John doh! The B/W clip has an overhead shot which perhaps was considered too heavy for the massive 'coffin' Marconi colour cameras used?

Interesting find John because it was a BBC show - yet Shari Lewis did a series for LWT around the same time during the colour strike era.
