Had an enquiry whether the following exist in the Beeb archive - can any TOTP/music fans enlighten me? They are all audio tape only.
One features Pink Floyds very first appearance (though they were probably on film) and is introduced by Jimmy Savile and Tony Blackburn (introduced as a new dj on radio 1 lol).
a full episode of TOTP from Feb 1968 hosted by Alan Freeman and featuring The Herd, Ola & The Janglers, Frankie Vaughan, DDBM&T, Traffic, The Seekers, Engelbert, Bee Gees and Barron Knights.
Also, an audio recording of a radio show entitled Easybeat from 1964/65, featuring
THE HOLLIES - YES I WILL, INSTRUMENTAL, MICKEYS MONKEY THE MIGIL 5 - A LITTLE BIT TOO LATE, JUST BEHIND THE RAINBOW, LOOP ME LOVE SANDRA BROWNE - KNOCK ON ANY DOOR, HALF AS MUCH JANIE MARDEN - CLOSE TO YOU WOUT STEINHOUS - UNKNOWN, FOLLOW THE DUN LAURA LEE - TEN TINY FINGERS DANNY STREET - I APOLOGISE THE YARDBIRDS - FOR YOUR LOVE MATT MONROE - WITHOUT YOU PETER & GORDON - FUNNY HOW LOVE CAN BE TONY STEVENS - MISUNDERSTOOD
and, finally, a quantity of the Mike Raven Soul Show from 1970/71 (with the dj edited out, sadly).
Missing or not?
Stuart

Dates don't seem to tally here. If its Floyd's first TOTP, on film or otherwise. its Arnold Layne from March 1967 at which point Blackburn was still on Radio London.
By the way I have some nice Mike Raven audio from the same period, with no airchecks no edits. Radio One. 3.10.70. 90 minute show. studio quality 18.12.70. Rosko's Roundtable with guests Johnnie Walker & Mike Raven. 45m. also studio quality.
I've worked on BBC archive/anniversary programmes in the past but no one has ever seemed interested in using the Raven stuff

How complete is the February 1968 show? Most 60's TOTP audios I've heard tend to have the DJ links chopped out.
Tony Blackburn as far as I recall didn't make his TOTP debut until either very late 1967 or very early 1968 - TOTP went through a period where they gave the new Radio One DJ's trials by guest hosting TOTP with the regulars Savile, Freeman and Murray. Radio One began in September 1967 some 6 months or so after Floyd's first single... however, their THIRD single was out in November so maybe misheard "first" for "third" or a mistake on the DJ's parts. This is interesting because I didn't think "Apples and Oranges" was featured on TOTP at all - it was a complete flop, nor did the band shoot a promo for it.

It certainly does. Thats quite a find then. Blackburn had his feet under the table by July 1967 and presented a few episodes of Midday Spin on the old Light Programme before Radio One started. Shame there's no visuals. That's holy grail stuff to us Syd Barrett fans

The Alan Freeman TOTP dates from 5-10-67 with that line-up. Blackburn's first credited appearance was 19-10-67.

Hello, Stuart!
Your information about Pink Floyd is very interesting. What's circulate besides from the TOTP recent video discovery, is possibly off-air audio of their second appearance on the show with Emily too. But this is without any introduction/outro.

No - I wish it did! The number of existing TOTP from the '60s can be counted on one hand !

Yes, quite a few more - just a shame the vision is missing.
