Just a heads up guys - there's currently a 16mm print of a Carnival of Monsters episode on eBay, and to pre-empt any speculation, it belongs to a collector who is known to the BBC, and who categorically doesn't have any missing Who material, so please don't bombard him with questions!

Interesting. I wonder how he came by it in the first place? I wonder if it was one of the 16mm films that Levine purchased or if it was a skip rescue or similar? Either way, nice to see prints circulating

That looks like Steven Sigel :3 Good chap who's a member of this board and a fellow New Englander! He sold some Pertwee clips last year on eBay after the whole Hartnell fiasco.
Was happy to learn that my eBay notification for "Who" and "16mm" worked. Found this out in an e-mail.

I should hope the people around here know who he is. The collector posts here from time to time. He knows episodes are missing.

Anyone want to guess how many emails he's gotten about lost episodes so far?

Anyone want to guess how many emails he's gotten about lost episodes so far? Was thinking of that, poor guy. Like preaching to the choir.

Great to see more 16mm on eBay.

Ha ha. I just checked again. I set the notification up for "16mm Doctor Who". :3 I do regular weekly checks (out of curiosity) for "16mm who" and "16mm bbc" on the website.

So this is about the third time I can remember in the last couple of years that a DW film print has turned up for sale. Every time one of these prints turns up on eBay, I'm seized by the insane desire to own a 16mm print just for the sheer coolness factor, despite the fact that I'm not a film collector and have frankly zero knowledge about projecting or caring for film. It's just something I'd like to be able to say I have in my Doctor Who collection. (I'm not crazy about this particular one because it is represented by surviving videotape - what I truly want is a unique 60s print like the 'Land of Fear' from a year or so ago.)
I'm financially able to indulge a few whimsies like this every now and then, but the only thing preventing me from bidding on one of these is the fact that I want these prints to go to a good home where they will be properly stored and cared for, and I'm not completely sure that I can provide that. Therefore, I've foregone bidding in the past and let these things stay in the realm of film collectors who know what they are doing.
So - hypothetically speaking - if I wanted to own one of these just for bragging rights or whatnot, what would I need in terms of storage or special care to ensure that it had a safe home?
