There was one episode of All Gas & Gaiters listed at the BFI which they couldn't find to be there when it came to the DVD release. The 11 on it seem to be all there are. All Gas is a very enjoyable watch and I reckon the fact that so few episodes still exist is the only reason it hasn't become one of those well-loved perennial series like Dad's Army which is continually repeated!

I don't know if it still exists but there was a BBC Christmas extra playlette where Derek Nimmo played both characters. As Derek Nimmo played both main characters in a scenario was created to avoid any clash or any expensive TV trickery. Basically both characters left their original locations, at the same time, but used different roads to just miss each other and so appear in this cross-over episode.

From memory, it was part of a a wider BBC compilation programme, along the lines of "Christmas Night with the Stars". There is very similar to the programme that contained the "The Likely Lads" sketch which does survive. I would guess either 1970, 1971 or 1972.

What struck me odd at the time, as fan of "All Gas and Gators", and why I suspect it might actually have been broadcast in 1972 was because Gas and Gators had already been axed in 1971. Even then I thought was odd the cast came back for this one off ten minute special.

Jeff,I was going to ask if people might be baffled by the title,an expression for some members of the clergy.'Gaiters' being worn by bishops to protect their lower legs.I think? All Gas and Gators would be interesting...
Remember that William Hartnell was the Doctor-before--last when 'The Three Doctors' was broadcast.A long time for kids,so there was a precedent.I suspect there was more than one "remeber when" moment in sitcoms.Cue a Christmas Quiz....in fact remember when (the spiv) leaves in Dad's Army cause James Beck had died (?).There was a space in the platoon, and a note saying "back soon".
