Greg H,I absolutely love your shimmering cat and popcorn picture! It is a classic of animated GIFs! It seemed strangely appropriate for this thread I for one greatly look forward to the imminent return of all of these missing doctor who episodes

Guys, guys, guys. The episodes are GONE.kaput, dust, gone to the great archive in the sky. They are not in semi-detached suburban drawing-rooms,they are not at car-boot sales on a rainy Wednesday morning, they are not under beds and sofas-and believe me,I've looked!

and... 24 more episodes for some people from another thread to rant that the BBC is trying to gouge out their gold fillings by re releasing previously released material along with any new recoveries
but still would be a dream come true

The way I see it, there are several possibilities:
a) it's all true - there really are 24 missing eps b) it's somewhat true - there may be 'a' or 'some' missing episodes c) it's a misunderstanding / mistake / miscummunication d) the original poster is being hoaxed by his friend e) the original poster is hoaxing us
Let's hope for a).
But until we know anything more there's not much point speculating.

I fully accept that some if not all of the 106 are gone. But you can't possibly know what is in other people's houses especially what they recorded 45 years ago on tape. It is possible that a rich bloke or lady has them all on Sony tapes but for one reason or another isn't parting with them. So don't try to put thoughts into other people's brains and let them form their own opinions, right or wrong.

Locking the thread shows no disrespect to the OP - it just prevents the board being clogged up by the feverish speculations of DW fans for a week, which would make the likely outcome (exposure of yet another hoax) all the more morale-sapping. Surely it would do us all good to nip the speculation in the bud now pending further info?

Quite right - especially the last sentence.

Amazing how this friend's father only managed to collect missing episodes. That's some stroke of luck, considering there are more non-missing episodes than missing ones from 1963-69. Count me sceptical...

Vaughan, your statement is not exactly true, he did say that the people has the evil of the daleks 2, but that wasn't relevant as its not a missing episode.

Right I am going to lock this, because I've only just spotted it.
jackw28 - send Paul V a PM (click on his name anywhere you see it and click on the Send Member a Message link) and discuss this with him, giving him your genuine contact details - I suggest a phone number. You have a week to do this. If this is a hoax, and Paul (or indeed myself) receives no PM from you by next weekend, I will ban you for wasting everyone's time.
If this turns out to be genuine and even one single minute's worth of footage is recovered as a result of this, I will reopen this thread so that every single person who has posted here can apologise for doubting you.
Can't really be much fairer than that.
