Way too young. Cancer seems to be taking away too many people.
The noblest Romana in my eyes.

That's very sad. Cancer again.
I wonder why we're losing so many companions from the 70s. Only Katy and Louise are left, whereas (as far as I know !) we've only lost Jacqueline Hill and Michael Craze from the 60s.

Richard Adrienne Hill (Katarina); if 5 episodes is the minimum for being regarded as a companion. Terrible news, always preferred her to Lalla Ward's 'Romana'. The Key To Time was one of the greatest stories in the programmes history

Quite so (and I forgot Lalla too).
I'm just a bit shocked that we've lost three actresses from the 70s in just over a year, especially when companions from the 60s are lasting out really well. You sort of imagine that advances in medicine might be keeping us all alive for longer, but obviously not.

My favourite Romana. I met both Lalla and Mary at a convention and Mary came across as a genuinely nice person.
BTW advances in medicine are making us live longer. 3 actresses with a link to a specific programme, do not an epidemic make. Still very sad though.

Ah well, Lalla was very pleasant, but, it was obvious that she does not suffer fools gladly and takes no prisoners....

You ain't kidding! I cannot stand the DVD commentaries if Lalla or Janet are involved. One gets rather tired of their constant slagging off of various things. It was kinda amusing at first but with each successive commentary it gets tedious to the degree I haven't bothered checking out the last few they did.

Don't do Dr Who DVDs etc.

Richard Indeed, the last few years or so have been very sad in terms of losing members of our Doctor Who family, and not just companions - there's Verity, Barry... Particularly to lose two companions in two months is very sad, and Mary was so young; just 62 Rest in peace

That is so sad. He must have gone through a lot and I feel saddened for his family to have had two losses.
