According to Play.com and some online sites, the Claws of Axos is set to be released at the end of October. Someone mentioned it on the MC as well. Is this a Revisitation, or an error?

Revisitation - presumably along the lines of the forthcoming Inferno SE, marrying the higher definition T/R of parts 2 & 3 to the colour signal from the NTSC 2".

As revisitations usually come in threes, could these two (Inferno & The Claws of Axos) get grouped with another affected story? Which one though?? Doctor Who and the Silurians would be a good candidate. As the colour recovery process wasn't an option the first time it was remastered for DVD, and Eps 5 & 6 (from memory) are a bit lacking colour wise.
Possibly a second Unit Files set??

They're getting individual releases rather than being boxed (and there's already a third revisitation now on the schedule - Vengeance on Varos in September). Silurians is a pretty recent release by comparison, and since the RT aren't using chroma-dot recovery on the segments of Ambassadors where the off-air colour signal is stable, I'm guessing that there wouldn't be sufficient improvement to justify the extra work on Silurians.

Just two words sum up my feelings for this re-release and those are 'sheer apathy'!However,I know this is an itch that needs to be scratched and I will at some point in the not too distant future have a shiny new CLAWS OF AXOS DVD sitting on my shelf and the old copy sitting in a charity shop!

These re-releases are both annoying and welcome. They are annoying because I bought them all when they first came out in 2000 and 2001. But they are welcome because they are adding additional special features, special effects, etc. that were not in the original editions. But so far I have yet to buy any of the re-releases.

I have a feeling the Re-Release trend will hold, seeing are nearing the end of the run of existing stories to still be released on DVD!! I am with you on that one, seems like an awful lot to pay for just a few more extras, but they know darn well that eventually we will break down and buy it, as know what we do not have, and what we want to see, " curses..plans foiled again "
Cheers, Lance.

Oh well, all's fair in love and marketing...!But I think you all know my views on this by now...these episodes ain't missing! Can't we please move onto stories which are lost- I know the cost of animation is prohibitive but something, anything with official BBC sponsorship along the lines of Loose Cannon productions would be welcome. The reduced MARCO POLO was a step in the right direction.Augment this with an in-depth documentary on the Making of...and a few other extras and I'm sure you'll have a release with as much popularity as say,the SENSORITES.Oh,and by the way make it a two stories-for-the price of one edition and I'm sure the fans will be happy! However,I know this is a missing episode web-site and we're not here to discuss BBC marketing policy!

If it helps sway anyone's decision, I am *really* pleased with the improvements that we've made in the picture and sound quality here. And it contains one particular extra that some people have been asking us for for years.

Fair point, John Harwood. I was also forgetting Silurians originally was released on DVD as part of the "Beneath the Surface" set. I've been wracking my mind trying to figure out what this "extra" for Axos is!! Any hints?? Or do we have to wait patiently to find out for ourselves lol, a bit like waiting too see the two episodes that turned up last year.... Anticipation, don't ya hate it? Lol

I hope it's the 1993 'Missing In Action' mini-documentary, but they're probably saving that for the Tenth Planet DVD.
