Can anyone tell me anything about this 1961 series? Does it exist and who owns it now?

Film series made by ABC. 39 episodes in 1961-62. According to Kal, they all exist on 35mm.

Hi Paul --
I've got a couple of 16mm prints from this series -- it's about a scotland yard detective who solves crimes with the help of his rather large police dog. Interesting show...

Clive James devoted a hefty portion of one of his TV shows (in the last series he did for ITV) to taking the mick out of this series, with plenty of clips.
Just made me want to see more, though!

Sorry for being off topic but this thread reminded me of a series screened by the BBC for children in the very early 1950s about the Canadian Mounted Police but I do not remember much horse riding. The Mounties used vans and the episode I remember had a van, apparently with air brakes, that had been sabotaged by acid on the brake line.
Can anyone tell me what this series was called etc?

Royal Canadian Mounted Police aka RCMP was late 50s, and was a series for adults, not children.

Dear Mr. Martin, Thanks for the correction on transmission era. I am still fairly certain it was screened in childrens' hour but maybe I am wrong on that.

Well, it may be that there was another series, shown in children's television, in the era you remember - I just mean that the particular drama series RCMP was later in the 50s.
