I wonder what the chances are of something going on eBay in the not so distant future? Fairly high I would have thought!

It all depends on whether someone has something they want to sell...

It's not an episode -- but in case anyone is interested, I've just posted some Pertwee Invasion of the Dinosaurs footage (negative)....

Nice post Steven! It'll certainly give us further understanding as to where the market is at for 16mm doctor who material. :3 Hmmm ... So tempted to bid on this myself. *rubs hands together*

It's a difficult one to judge. Only a few years ago, original footage was only going for around the £20 mark, with one piece selling for a princely £6.50.

I was given the live action film inserts for Androzani though.

I've sold several reels like this of footage and they've all gone in the £70-£200 range I confess that I bought the £6.50 one, although the was original 35mm neg of model footage from Remembrance, and model footage has tended to go for less than the live action material. It was also seven years ago as well! Lots of 35mm model footage back then was going for around £20-40. Location material has usually gone for over £100.

I think these inserts might have been of more value when production of the dvd was taking place. Out of curiousity did the BBC borrow or use your original inserts when preparing the dvd release?
Also I notice that the color doesnt look that sharp from the stills. Is that because that is the way they looked originally or from the reversing process or fading?
Thanks

The BBC did use it when they did the DVD release.
The color would be better if I ran it through a cyan filter to takeout the orange mask - the pictures are raw inverted. May also be slightly faded -we are talking about a 38 year old bit of film...

Steven has always been very open and accommodating as far as his collection is concerned, as have most people who have footage in their possession

My live action location footage for both 'The Leisure Hive' and 'The Caves of Androzani' were used on the DVD's. We were also loaned the film inserts for episodes 2-4 of 'Terror of the Zygons' and they look very nice.
