Does anyone listen to the BBC missing audio soundtrack CDs in 5.1 or 7.1 surround sound? I'm sure lots of fans do but if you haven't,I would strongly recommend it.If you have an AV reciever linked to a blu-ray player and a surround sound speaker set-up,the sound of the audio is amazing! The spatial separation produced by 5.1,or even better 7.1 surround sound actually gives the impression of the missing episode literally 'hanging' in the air.The soundtrack to the WEB OF FEAR is particularly atmospheric in surround sound, really giving an eerie, claustrophobic feel to the underground scenes.

I'm assuming you mean putting it through one of the artificial effects, such as "hall", "club" or "vast underground cavern"..?
In which case, no.

No,just the normal 7.1 or 5.1 setting, the other 'artificial sound effects' such as hall, club etc are not necessary. The surround sound just makes the missing episode that much more tangible and 3-dimensional.It gets it that little bit closer to the real experience of watching the episode. Now if you were to marry that with animation or telesnaps...Will 2entertain ever re-mix the B/W episodes missing or not missing into 5.1 or 7.1?I can't listen to the missing story audios any other way!

Sorry, but the audios are in mono. If you put them through a surround receiver, you should only get sound through the front centre speaker. But there's only one track, so you can't possibly be getting anything even approaching true surround. What surround mode are you using..?

The AV receiver is a YAMAHA and it's putting the mono signal through a film mode( movie ) processer set at 7.1.It basically puts the sound through 8 speakers distributed around the room. The speakers are calibrated so that the different speakers give out different levels of sound according to their position around the room,so giving a 3-D effect. The sound is warm and enveloping-really good.Because of their calibration, the sound is non-directional,the speakers don't appear to be producing any sound! It just surrounds you.

So, basically an artificial effect, as I said.
