No - I was only going by Roger Wilmut's book on 'Hancock' which says: T = transmission (pre-recorded, or PASB) INT = internal use (e.g. producer checking live programme) OI = outside interest (e.g. request from cast member) TU = made for BBC Television Enterprises to sell abroad. But now you mention it, I'm used to seeing 4ENT rather than 4T. So I'm unsure now. Perhaps Andrew Martin would know? On a slight tangent, on a video tape with the code VTC/6MIS/57347 what would the MIS part stand for?

Well hopefully he will pull up a few gems and someone can get them and share them.... According to one of the members here, the only Doctor Who print he has is the one up for auction now. If he ever finds any more Doctor Who episodes, I'm sure he will auction them off after seeing how much profit this episode makes for him.

Out of interest, what did you search for '16mm episodes' or something? I never get anything interesting! Delighted with this listing as I'm a massive Hartnell fan and this is one of my favourite episodes!!

If this is a dupe print, as is suggested, then its more likely that the original collector was someone collecting 16mm after 1980 (post destruction). Also I would think that dupes would have come from a different market than used circulating prints. To make a dupe of a 16mm would not be cheap and for a mark-up to be added would have made it an expensive original purchase. Of course its always possible he had something missing (dr who or otherwise).
Im sure it would have been interesting hearing the original owner's experiences of 16mm collecting when he purchased the print. While the Reign of Terror is a fine story Im curious the rationale of deciding on that print to dupe over a classic Dalek or Cyberman episode.

@george - in this case, this print is almost certainly NOT one of the dupes that was made in the 80s by the guy who "borrowed" prints from the BBC. But the BBC itself often made dupes as viewing copies and whatnot. Without seeing the print in person, I couldn't say for sure what it was, but I could tell in a few minutes if I had the print in my hands...
Your assumption, that a collector 'decided' to have this made, I believe is incorrect.

Indeed George D.
I have had some dealings with this seller in the past. Is an odd sort, but very enthusaistic about his 16mm projectors, film prints, and also vintage electronics. As he had listed an ex-BBC Shibaden VTR, years ago now on ebay. For which I had chatted in regards to wether he had any tapes-reels about for this? Was really hoping might have some ex BBC Shibaden recordings ( know well that these do not play back very well, however, thought was worth a shot then ). Then he disappeared, ceased answering any messages I sent?? Then I see this posting mentioned here. I would like to think as others do, that he might have some other TV related items from this UK collectors materials? Indeed, does anyone know of, or might possibly be able to state here in regards to any further contact with this seller? As we all know, too much messaging, and inquiring messages might make any chance of finding any further information here a big impossibility am thinking.
Would hope either Paul Vanezis or Richard Bignell are on the case!!!
Any possibility of letting the masses here know, would be much appreciated!!
Cheers, Lance.
P.S. Very interesting Steven in regards to this not looking like one of the mentioned 80's duplicates. I had thought this as well in regards to BBC viewing print practices. Remember that Day Of Armageddon was used to test projectors in the room that Francis Watson discovered it in. Was certain many here would remember, and post on that??
I am very interested to hear here in regards to any further developments.

@lance - he said he's selling this collection for someone else. No idea who the actual owner is.

In case you want to compare for yourselves - here's a scan of my print. You'll notice a) that the handwritten episode code is an exact match, and you'll also note that the small lettering (in black - which means it's from a positive print somewhere in the chain) in the sprockets matches exactly... www.16mm-films.net/land.jpg

steven g.. if its another original then thats good news. I was inferring from your previous posts where one was suspicous of it being a dupe and the other implied yours and this were made off the same print. Was just relying on what i thought you said.

@ George, Yes, I am suspicious that the other print is a dupe as well - can't say for sure, but given that the black lettering (KODAK SAFETY) in the sprockets lines up exactly, it seems quite possible that that print is also a copy. If two prints were struck from the same negative, then you would expect the black lettering to show up aligned differently (while any white lettering - from the negative - would show up the same).

Ahhh, Thank you again Steven for assisting in clearing that up here!! Assists greatly!! That is a surprise to me. After checking the guy's rating and the experience he's had with selling film prints to others, I thought he was a collector and just bought these prints from another collector. If this film print was made during the 60s with the rest of the black and white film prints, then it appears as if episodes 1 and 6 of The Reign of Terror managed to get out of the BBC and into the hands of film collectors. Unfortunately, it would probably still be a million to one shot that episodes 4 and 5 of this story would turn up again.

OI = outside interest (e.g. request from cast member) How often were these requested?

Richard Tipple - I have '16mm' in my saved searches on ebay. It's much easier than trying to find the 16mm category from scratch (it's a sub cat of DVD, Film & TV). The way to set this up is as follows: (Leave the subject box blank throughout this process) From the categories drop-down menu, select 'DVD, Film & TV' and click 'search'. Then, from the left hand menu, click on 'other film formats'. From the next sub-menu, click on 'Film' and from the next list, click on '16mm'. Then select 'newly listed' from the 'sort by' drop-down menu. All you need to do now is click 'Save search', which is just above the top of the listings and you can give the search a name. Then each time you go to 'my ebay', on the left hand side, under 'Lists', you simply click on 'saved searches'. Having it sorted as newly listed makes it easy to check every few days and not miss anything. I also have a saved search for 8mm as quite a few years ago I saw a none-missing Troughton episode on Super 8 for sale!
