What I'd like for the demi-centenary (and I think I'm giving the BBC enough notice) is a whole day on BBC 4 reconstructing the day Doctor Who was first broadcast. To include updates-they way they've done on D-Day anniversaries-of the JFK assasination as though it was breaking news. How much material survives from that day,I wonder? Might it be a chance for the Tellygoons to be shown again? I'd also like-I know non of this is original-a drama showing the aetiology of the show,as was done with Coronation Street and Steptoe.
Oh,and perhaps we could have a live restaging of episode one?
And a balloon given away with every commemorative copy of the Radio Times...

Hear, hear! Channel 4 did something similar in 1999 for the 30th anniversary of the moon landings - finding the original coverage of some station or other of the launch and other important events, and then broadcasting it at the appropriate times of day.
But if we can't have that, what I'd like - whisper it quietly - is an episode of Doctor Who in which the Eleventh Doctor meets up with... the Eighth Doctor. Paul McGann's Doctor is unfinished business.

I don't think there'd be a shortage of peopled who'd be volunteered. For the longest time I thought that Kennedy had been assassinated on the 23rd.
For years 'his' anniversary has been receiving less attention, while the Who one,in Britain at least, has attracted more.I wonder how many people could name either date? Still, fifty years is quite a milestone.(And no,I don't think I'm the first to say that, either).
Let's see,they've done the stamps...how about a few knighthoods?

What I would love to see is a special 50 pence coin celebrating 50 years of Doctor Who.

It would be a nice time to release the two newly-discovered episodes except that it'd mean a very long wait for the fans, and a long gap between the last of the scheduled discs and the anniversary.

How about the entire run of the eps? Even if they plan to animate it is still a few years off for that.

I'd like to see a tv movie about the genesis of Doctor Who similar to how ITV made The Road to Coronation Street.

I would love to see a dr who convention planned for that date/weekend with several of the doctors attending. Being in america Im biased towards something here, but if its in england, id have to consider saving up. That being said Im curious if the 50th anniversary of kennedy assassination will make more significant news than than the 50th anniveraary of who.

Hell, I'd like an additional find and a DVD release in November 2013 of one of Patrick Troughton's Dalek or Yeti stories, but I am not very hopeful of that occurring.

Whatever - this whole thread has nothing to do with missing episodes - time for a lock and / or deletion methinks. Regards, Richard
