Their other day I found a most interesting and historically fascinating clip on YouTube. With all the talk about foreign broadcasts of late, got me looking about again in that area to see what may be found-discovered.
Here is the clip description:
" A short but thorough tour through the studios, control and engineering rooms of Malta T.V. by the chief engineer. This December '74 visit shot on 1/2" open reel shows image-orthocon tubed cameras with lens turrets for changing from wide to medium to long lens (one had a zoom!) The announcer actually sat down on the news/continuity set (they would only stand in the main studio), and the film was lubricated (in negative) as it went through the chain to air. Audio control also had a 'gram unit' (phonograph player) above the arched faders of the mixer. One VTR was an Ampex 1100 with V-lock (ie, no dissolve to/from tape) the RCA could be genlocked, if required. This station, with recycled gear from the BBC and RAI, was essentially set up just like it was in the late 50's and all programming was in black & white."
www.youtube.com/watch?v=Mp1O35ZE3hk&feature=channel_video_title
I have already asked the poster if had any classic TV material about. Stated sadly did not have anything of that nature about at present. However had some great other vintage clips on his channel. The search goes on.
This assists in painting a visual picture on how it was in these early days of broadcasting.
Very interested to hear what is thought here. Just something fun!!
Cheers, Lance.
