Correct Richard. I was simply making use of my crystal ball rather than referring to any announcement that the BBC have made. That said though, if I were a gambling man I would happily put money on it coming to pass in the next few years! I'm not necessarily convinced that there will be anything "better" on bluray. For most of the 60s Who (except some of Season 6) we have a telerecording of a 405 line video - I doubt that there's any more information that could be extracted for a HD release. I suspect that the advantage for bluray will be the ability to get more episodes on one disc. All ten episodes of War Games, plus the "Special Features", and some... will go on one bluray disc.

Ah thankyou Ross, that's very kind. I'm quite happy being the man in the background, who occasionally waves and says hello...lol. Also I'm happy for anyone to private message me if they have any queries or need any help with information. Equally I don't mind adding my fourpenneth to the forum if people are happy with it. I don't want people to feel 'oh no, not him again'. I was just lucky to work where I did and be involved as much in the history of who & general archive Tv as I was (still am to a point).
As far as the discussion on HD goes, I'm nearing 50 now, with much poorer eyesight than I used to have (maybe there wasn't an advantage in working in Television for so long...lol - though my haemorrhage didn't help), so if what you see isn't perfect anyway (even with glasses), I'm not big into high definition, just good quality.
Even a HD tfr off a f/r of an old 405 video is much better than watching the old video converted (hence why the colour pertwee's look far better reverse converted than just converted) and the vidfire process at least gives us the feel of the old video, with a better quality picture. Dx

What's this I hear about classic who on Bluray?? I've already spent a small fortune getting it all on DVD (not to mention the videos!!) That's just not fair! That's called a guess, rossman! I know that lol I'm just adding my two bobs worth! I suppose the odd Classic Bluray could work (Spearhead From Space and or The Movie would look good in HD) would HD do anything to improve the visual quality of the sixties film T/R's ? My full HD set seems to have trouble processing the vidfired eps. The screen goes "juddery" occasionally (roughly every 7 minutes or so) it has it's own sort of interpolation thingy "built in" I tried turning it off but no difference?? Got me stuffed!!

sounds like the buffer is being flushed every 7 minutes or it could be the disc player unless it's built in.
