Hi Dr Who fans, I don't normally post on here, but....here's some external footage description of a film held in a private archive. I expect the 'Dr Who Dalek' footage contained in probably from the Baker or Pertwee era (as I'm guessing the film is from 74-78, BUT, you never know, and there were still Troughtons and Hartnells existing at the Beeb then weren't there? ) I am also aware he film is Colour, so it's likely it's post-Troughton! But bear in mind this archive (Huntley) had some outtake footage of Jon Pertwee, so.... I don't know, but I'm certainly not Darren Gregory, and you may as well check this out! ""Film Number: 39917 | Category: Entertainment + Leisure | Decade: 1970's | Sound: Mute | Colour: Colour BBC childrens programmes and characters from TV programmes as merchandise. Includes clips from tv programmes (Magic Roundabout, Wombles, Dr Who Daleks, B&W Minstrels, Camberwick Green) and the merchandise and toys linked to Companies producing games, food products, manuals etc. Children buying toys in a shop. Still shots of stars including Bruce Forsyth, Noel Edmunds. Lots of boxed games, toys and brand names.""

There were only five Dalek stories during the 70s; three Pertwee (Day, Planet and Death) and two Baker (Genesis and Destiny). Could be film from any of those - possibly footage that never made it into the broadcast version. Be interested to see it.

By the way, the dates I had of 74-78, because the Huntley archive suggests 70's and also because it's colour, and also - moreover - because the Wombles only started in 73 (in those days merchandising for UK shows didn't normally start until a year or so after, unlike nowadays or US shows), and the B & W Minstrels last show was in '78.
Incidentally....6 of those are missing in colour from the 70's!

Dr Who went into colour when Pertwee took over.

Indeed. Likely to be a Baker clip, but again, one needs to see the footage.

An interesting development there Ray.
I would say late Pertwee era or early Baker era here.Just a very random guess.
Also, the clip itself may very well be monochrome. With the rest of the print being in colour. This is a very real possibility,as have seen examples of this from other 70's TV material of note.Do not discount this possibility so easily. Is one of those "Won't know till you look" cases. We are needing to call up this item, and have it viewed on a steinbeck editor, would be best of course.
Further research and work here is very much,if not clearly needed.
I have said this on other threads in relation to all these items in the Huntley Archive. That it clearly needs to be looked over professionaly. As would seem to make the most sense here inlight of these finds there of late.
Again,we need to see the footage-material to give a more detailed account here Ray.Is rather difficult to place a thing going off that megar description.Could be from the Cushing films for all we know!!
Cheers,Lance.
