Just to say this item (Kenny Everett insert TOTP studio material 73) other title 'search - pop' on the reel may have been for John Cravens magazine 'Search' running at that time. 'Screen test' adopted its young film makers competition from 1972. Does anyone know if these items survive and which years?

Ah, very interesting! I believe there was also a schools programme in the 1970s of the same name - perhaps we're talking about the same thing?
I too would like to know if the whole 'Search - Pop' programme exists, as I suspect it might be rather interesting.
They could've got some better interviewers for Cuddly Ken, though!

Yes, as 'Search' was a seperate topic each week, theres a possibility. The examples that exist from 1973 period were about children taking a greater role in their t.v. programming and a political forum with Margaret Thatcher put to question. When 'Search' originally ran, think winter 1971, John Craven sat on a swivel chair in a dark room, and I think Magnus Magnusson was a topic correspondant. The title music was Led Zeppelins 'whole lotta love'. I seem to recall a sort of oscilloscope pulse line across the centre of the screen in time to the music on these early editions, which isn't present on the titles I've seen (circa 1973).

I'm seeking the archive status of 'Search' (John Craven) generally, myself. Apart from the '73 material I've seen there is an earlier item about redevelopment in urban areas (1972). I haven't ascertained any further details, but possibly Andrew Martin may be able to confirm?

There is quite a lot of material existing from "Search", some complete programmes, and quite a lot of filmed inserts. There's an edition called "The Environment" from 1/11/72, which exists complete on VT - that might be the one you're referring to?

This sounds very likely the one I described. Many thanks for this information. Presumably '72 is the earliest holding? The annual item 'young film makers competition' I believe transferred to the show 'Screen Test' when that began in 1972.
