I bet not (sadly) or Wonderboy either, as the BBC don't have them and seemingly can't bothered to recover them. I hope the Julie Felix appearance is aired in full at least, although I expect it to be plastered with worthless captions / profile TOTP2 style! Will be interesting to at least see what they decide to unearth. The Kinks certainly deserve a programme of this kind to themselves.

Both Autumn Almanac & Wonderboy (TOTP) appear on the Dutch 'Testament of the Sixties' CD/DVD box set. I think both the clips were discovered in Holland, perhaps via Veronica? www.youtube.com/watch?v=5-kp_ys-G-Q

do you think the 'and Ray Davies' bit is because they had to pad it out a bit with his solo stuff due to there not being enough surviving footage of the Kinks to make an hours program?
No offense to Ray Davies but i think most people would prefer to just see a kinks program

Yeah, you beat me to that thought, Rich! I'd rather it was just "Kinks" too. I don't really want to see an older Davies covering his old band hits 30 or 40 years on when the definitive article is sitting in the archives waiting to be seen. There is probably enough material for a whole show on the band if you include stuff up to the '70s.
Just to recap on some of the the items available, mentioned earlier in the thread:
Two songs - Beat Room (1964) Sunny Afternoon - Whole Scene Going (1966) Dead End Street - film originally made for TOTP (1966) Two Songs - Once More With Felix (1969) Days - Pop Goes The Sixties (1969) Lola - TOTP (1970) Apeman - TOTP (1970) Two songs - OGWT session (1971) The Kinks At The Rainbow (1972) - containing some missing earlier hits The Kinks In Concert (1973) - containing some missing earlier hits and album tracks The Kinks Rainbow Concert (1977) - again, would fill a few gaps and about as late as you can go and it still be the "real" Kinks.
Over 2 hours there at least. No need to include "...and Ray Davies" in the title. Of course, if they bothered to retrieve the Autumn Almanac and Wonderboy TOTP clips (whose whereabouts are probably known) then that's even more raw material to select from. There's also a TOTP appearance for Sunny Afternoon out there somewhere that is circulating (in poor quality but proving it exists). Isn't there also an existing early '70s Cilla appearance or similar as well as possibly a few other '60s performances that are being overlooked right now?

The Kinks were on Jools Holland once (1993) and Ray solo at least 3 times (1996, 2001 and I think 2006). I can forsee some or all of them being unearthed for this special.

Let's hope no new footage is included or the whole show will be made 16.9 and our beloved archive performances will be cropped. Would love to see the Once More With Felix and Cilla performances in their correct aspect.

The clips included in "The Kinks At The BBC" are listed on the BBC4 site and sadly it appears that the Julie Felix perfomances are not included. Some of Ray Davies's solo performances are included as is "have a cuppa tea" from OGWT and the "Beat Room" session.

Interesting choices. I notice that 'Death of a Clown' is included. Could it possibly be from that recovered '67 totp?. Probably not! here's the link www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/b012ht1w

Am I right in saying this will be the 'Apeman' clip's first airing on UK TV since original broadcast, it has never been on TOTP2 or the like!

Hmm. The Julie Felix appearance was potentially the most interesting thing they could have used but it's been ignored! A classic piece of pop TV that we almost lost remains inaccessible.

Everything that is wrong with the BBC is encapsulated here, ignoring priceless footage that is at their disposal in their own archive, turning their back on BBC footage found in foreign archives, ignoring footage that could be liscensed from other archives( starstruck promo, Shindig, Where the action..) and then releying on recent footage of Ray Davies performing the hits recently! It only re-inforces the ignoranant and false view that the footage no longer exists and paints a distorted view. The worst thing for me is that this is what you come to expect! The Julie Felix footage is by far the most interesting, thank god for Youtube!!!

frustrating i know but its probably because the person putting the program together had no knowledge of the rarity value of different footage. I imagine its just a case of someone being told to make the program and then them taking the easiest route to do it.
