What progress has been made in securing these missing episodes has yet to be established. However, the last time I heard was that Dick Fiddy and Ralph Montagu of the BBC were looking into the matter.
It may have been a few legal problems that have prevented the return of the missing Paul Temple episodes.
The copies are, apparently, all in colour and on telerecording.
Yours,

Here is a URL for a posting to a German newsgroup www.tvforen.de/phorum/read.php?f=3&i=24157&t=24145This is a rough translation: 'Paul Temple' has not been repeated, at least not by ZDF Not all episodes are available to buy, I have only got 18 The last complete Durbridge serial repeat was end 1992/beginning 1993 on Eins Plus (ARD-nostalgia channel, that was unfortunately closed), all serials from "The Other" to "The Chain" were shown. As far as I know, the following serials have for sure not subsequently been repeated: "The Other" "So far so good" "Time Frzer - The Salinger Case" "A man named Harry Brent" and "The Chain" The others have however reappeared more often (Neckscarf, Melissa ...).At the start of the 90´s at Xmas on WDR there was always a Durbridge serial and on NDR in 97 or 98 was 'Like lightning', in one of their Saturday night specials.

Thanks for the info. Your comments and info were much appreciated. Interseting that even when a programme exists things are never straightforward.

Just curious but how many episodes in total are supposed to reside in Germany? Is it just the 18 mentioned above or are there more? Are these English prints with subtitles burnt in or anything (which there were rumours of)?

There are apparently a bunch more episodes that have recently been found, quite independently of the zdf ones, in a completely different archive somewhere (I know nothing more, even if it's in germany, sorry!!). My posting was solely from interest of what exists Durbridge-wise and has been repeated in germany, which I thought might be interesting info. Sorry for any confusion.

Well, it's interesting anyway, Steve. Good that more may have turned up as well though. Can anyone shed more light on what has surfaced?

So are these episodes only in German? If they were recovered then they couldnt be used for anything. Unless we all learn the language.

Hehehehehe ;D Perhaps we could re-dub the dubbed episodes...
Actually, German isn't THAT hard to understand - but I can't speak for everybody I guess...
If off-air soundtracks survive then the episodes could simply be re-dubbed from those or the voices could be re-dubbed into English. Not that much of a biggie really...

The newly-discovered ones I thought were in English, maybe someone else can confirm that??
ZDF had 19 German-dubbed copies but apparently 2 of these are no longer playable and it's down to 17 now.

Was assuming that the German dubbed ones had no English audio soundtracks surviving. In that case they would be of not much use. I hope there are soundtracks though.
