Hello everyone,
I've see on Twitface or somewhere that Reign of Terror is to be released on DVD in 2012. Does someone know something I don't?

I did hear this as well. I have no idea what they plan to plug the gap with. Reign isnt one of Billy's most successful stories for me!

Hi Greg,
Well hopefully they'll have commissioned something as good as they did for The Invasion and perhaps pair it up with the S2 opener?
Intriguing choice nonetheless, but I do wish they'd release all the complete stories first. I'll re-watch 1-3 and 6 as I can't remember whether it's a weak story or not!

en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dr_Who_DVDAccording to Wikki it is scheduled for release, it also mentions that it was released in The States on vhs with linking commentary by Carole Anne Ford (presumably like William Russell with The Crusade). I do hope they aren't going to use this to fill in the gaps on this release as I find it very tedious to watch.

Intriguing choice nonetheless, but I do wish they'd release all the complete stories first. If it meets its indicated date of late 2012, you'll probably be able to count the number of unreleased complete stories on the fingers of one hand, so it's not really going to be a problem.

Ha - I realised this just as I had posted. Richard, you could save any disappointment by digging deep with your super powers and finding copies of episodes 4 and 5 from a magic vault, along with Sir John Franklin's last expedition log, Lord Lucan and Katie Price's virginity?

personally i think simply including the audio, supplemented with photos (telesnaps if available) and the odd subtitle to describe 'action' when needed would be a more 'genuine' restoration than animation for me.

I would be quite suprised if the Beeb stumped up to animate the missing episodes for a historical story any time soon. I dont think the historicals are their biggest selling titles, some casual buyers arent even keen on black and white TV as I understand it. Something with daleks or cybermen or at least a monster that has been in the remake series of doctor who is much more likely to get an animated episode. I think tenth planet 4 is your best bet if you are hanging out for more animations. Personaly im not that bothered the loose cannon aproach is pretty good.

I suspect it's a straightforward commercial decision for Dan Hall/2|e although I'm slightly surprised that they haven't done something like Ice Warriors rather than Reign of Terror. I wonder if this is a cheaper method of animation than The Invasion and they want to see the reaction before going further.

I am very happy about this, i know that animation has it doubters but at the moment its the closest thing to viewing the original we will have. I always thought they would animate this and the ice warriors/ the tenth planet because they they are only missing 1-2 episodes each and they probably held off on a dvd release due to cost and the faint hope the episodes would turn up. If they can spend the money on recoloring all the B+W Jon Pertwee episodes then once it gets cheap enough they will animate most if not all the missing Dr Who. I was very frustrated btw the audio only episodes on lost in time due to in places several minutes of action with no dialogue or explanation to what is going on and the VHS release of the tenth planet suffers from the same problem.
Fingers crossed as a younger fan I can finally see some more Troughton era Dr Who even if they are cartoons.
On a side note is anyone enjoying the new series, possibly the worst yet and thats saying something
