Hi,
A few months back I left a massive post on the Mausoleum Club forum trying to clear up some NOBA misconceptions and relaying a little trivia about the series. Thanks to the subsequent input of the excellent Matthew Sharp and his research into Aussie transmissions of BBC material, there is know a little more to know about the final three episodes of series one.
I don't know if Mark B wants to add to this guide, or indeed if there's anyone interested that missed this at the Mausoleum Club, but in episode four (with Mel Torme as guest):
"Peter Cook and Dudley Moore present an interview with a successful betting agent who began his operations with sixpence on the Titanic".
Also, in the Sykes episodes, there is a studio ballroom dancing sketch featuring Cook, Moore and their guest.
Neither of these have been mentioned in conjunction with the show before, largely due to the absence of any scripts for series one.
One question I have regards audio of the missing episodes - does anybody have any info on the recovered audio from series two? The only material that has been broadcast was a clip from ep 2, "Pete and Dud on Sickness". that featured in a Cook radio doc a year or so back.
More intriguingly, there is a report that the Sykes installment exists as audio. Has anyone heard this or know anything about it? This is actually a very important NOBA find, as of all the missing episodes, this is the one (except for "Religions") we know least about, and a transcription of these sketches would be extremely interesting.
Thanks - and thanks again to Matt Sharp, who is actually responsible for these details,
William (a different one)
- Oh, and on a different but related topic, any one have any info on the mooted 1948 show DVD? Tim Brooke-Taylor has confirmed to the Goodies Appreciation Society that this is underway. -
