Hello everyone,
I see that this wonderful season seven story has been delayed for release on DVD (indefinitely?) due to problems with the restoration. This is sad news indeed!! I'm sure there must be other nerds out there who are aching to get that season complete on the shelf?
Does anyone have any more info on the problems the RT are encountering? It would just be interesting to know.
Apologies if this has been discussed in depth elsewhere.

No idea of the problems encountered but i'm not surprised this hasn't materialised as yet. Steve Roberts has mentioned that the remarks in Wired magazine about the story being ready to deliver were inaccurate and it will remain to be seen if the problems are too big to overcome.
My guess is that it will happen eventually but i'm prepared to wait if it means a full colour version is possible in the long run. With new processes being invented all the time / old ones being streamlined (plus the added bonus of chroma dot recovery) I reckon that a way forward will be found. Patience.

Thanks Laurence,
Patience indeed. I think the disappointment is greater because it was announced in various places as part of this Solar System box set, so it seemed like a done deal, unlike Invasion say, or The Mind of Evil.
I'm sure I've read somewhere that it is intended to have everything released on DVD by end of 2013, so presumably b/w Pertwee will be released if the desired quality on any story cannot be achieved by then.

Officially it's delayed until at least 2012 - not cancelled. This suggests they can achieve what they set out to (Colour) but it will take more time to achieve the desired results.
Remember, there is a schedule with other releases on it. If one release proves more troublesome than thought, they will have to shelve it or at least work more lightly on it in order to get the other titles out on time. Then when the more developed releases are out the way, Ambassadors can be dropped back into the schedule.
It's perfectly possible that if the RT were told to forget all the other releases until Ambassadors was out, we could have it in a matter of months.

I've got a lot of respect for the RT - I doubt that there's a more dedicated bunch anywhere. They'll give us the best quality Pertwee possible.

Would rather have Ambassadors as a stand alone release anyway,I do not like the coupling up for box sets, also after 40 years I think I can wait another couple to see it through!

I would rather buy Ambassadors of Death as a stand alone story rather than a box-set
