There is very little 70s stuff on the 180 Leeds goals in fact if you go through them, whilst there is some from the 70s , most are in fact from 89/91, in fact most Leeds fans i know didnt buy it , as we had info that there was very little new a "new" Leedds Dvd has just been made avaiable in the Leeds club shop entilted 100 Leeds goals (more or less the same as 180) and bizzarely the 9th best ever was Brian Flynns winner at Old trafford on 28/02/81, in which according to Granada this game does not excist , it was telivised that we, unbelivably i bumped into Brian flynn himself at a Leeds game last season,he told me that itv contacted him and asked him if he had footage of it, as they wanted to show it prior to the Clash last season at Old trafford between Man utd/Leeds , he said he didnt have any i think a few Leeds fans may have it somewhere , Flynn i believe has contacted Granada to see if they have any in archives I was at that game and there was certainly no television cameras present. It wasn't a major surprise at the time as both teams were pretty poor in 1981. Dave Merrington had just been replaced by Allan Clarke as manager due to Leeds poor start in October 1980. The only other possible reason the goal could survive would be if Manchester United were filming the game for training purposes and offered a copy to either Granada (which you say they didn't) or BBC North West. Jan Molby managed to aquire a couple of his goals by this manor. I Remember it being on the ITN News, at 545, it was shown nationally i was in Margate at my Nans , becvause there was a boycott by some Man utd fans over performances lol and so there was an ITN News report on it , so footage must be somewhere i guess, ,, this was also shown recently in a Leeds pub somewhere, so it Must still be around

This thread seems like a sensible place for a query I have. A few weeks ago BBC North West Tonight showed a very brief clip of what looks to me like the 1969 FA Cup semi-final at Villa Park. The odd thing was, it was in colour as you can see... Now I'd never seen any colour footage of this game before and the original ITV highlights were black & white. Can anyone tell me if this is anything to do with the ITC discoveries or is it just (BBC?) news footage? If it's news footage does anyone know if the only goal of the game exists in colour?

Man City v Everton, right? Tommy Booth scored the winner?
It may be best to enquire directly with the BBC, they may well have the information.

I'd personally start with the regional broadcaster.
In truth this may take many many phone calls, but they're the one that showed it, and I always start at the beginning! And I'd do it by phone and e-mail.

Does anyone know if much survives from Anglia's Match Of The Week? I often saw myself on TV standing behind the advertising hoardings at The River End at Fortress Carrow Road in the early 1970s. The commentator/host of Match Of The Week was the great Gerry Harrison - his catchphrase was :"You'd need a motorbike to catch that one!" as yet another ball banged up the middle went out....

Although many of these regional games may well survive in the archives, the BBC won't make any copies for anyone unless you are a participant (not just 'in the crowd' but an actual programme participant).
ITV might sell you a copy, but it will cost hundreds of pounds!
Being sport, both ITV and BBC might flatly refuse to even do copies, as there are club copyright issues.
No regional archive can copy without express BBC or ITV permission.
There is no way really of viewing it either, if held at main ITV or BBC premises.

Another interesting angle to this is what footage exists of games that was filmed almost co-incidentally. I'm thinking of such things as the 15 minute film made by the BBC in early 1969 of BS Johnson visiting Nottingham which was the setting for his "book in a box" The Unfortunates which involved a sports reporter. There is film of a game between Forest and a team I can't identify that probably wasn't also shown on TV.

Are there any Leeds fans on here that , remember a how made by Ytv about mid 70s called Remember Leeds united, it only ran half hour but it was about the demise of Leeds after Revie left (which compared to what has happened to us since, wasnt really a demise at all)

That site is excellent I would recommend it also.I am very surprised that Network have not tried releasing some regional football games on DVD as I would imagine there would be quite a market from the nostalgic football fans for this type of thing.

Nice to see them Alan, but I still think there would be a market for the fans of the smaller clubs if they released regional compilations ie YTV,LWT,Granada etc.
