I went to this site run by Troy Walters - a quest after my own heart, to find these sorts of music shows. But it has the most irritating layout and headache-inducing background that made me desperate to find his email contact as quickly as I could so I could close the page and be done with it. As it happens, my brother and myself have various Beta recordings off "Countdown" and other Aussie shows like "Sounds" dating back to 1980 which could be technically missing, but could I find a contact email for him anywhere? He has a Youtube account, but it's suspended. Ah well, forget it then!

Yes, I've messaged you his contact details and I will let him know that you and your brother have some Countdown and Sounds on Beta. Happy to help. :-)

GREAT news!!!!
I have spoken to Troy Hilton this morning and he will be sending me the aforementioned clip of David Cassidy performing Daydreamer on the 500th TOTP. The quality is poor, it appears that ABC in Australia got a 16mm B&W kinescope film copy of the clip and GTK itself was kinescoped to 16mm B&W film so hence further degradation, so it's a kinescope of a kinescope. The clip was aired on this past January's Rage retro season.
The clip will then be passed to Kaleidoscope by myself.

That's great news Ray. "Every little Helps!" Just a pity that it wasn't a full copy of the 500th. The hunt continues........

I have sent a copy of the file to both Chris Perry and Andrew Martin. It isn't great quality, but it's back in good hands!
Paul, I have had no response from a film archive (not PVL), WHO I HAVE E-MAILED IN REGARD TO THE FULL EDITION. The archive is a very good private archive, who take good quality care of their stuff. Whether they will actually reply to me, or confirm whether they have the full edition is another thing.
Like everything, I'll keep you posted.

I recall the 500th edition of TOTP and have a vivid recollection that Lynsey DePaul's version of "Won't Somebody Dance With Me" featured Tony Blackburn dancing with her following the "May I have the pleasure of this dance" line and LDP pushing his hand up as it strayed a little low. No-one else I've spoken to about this recalls it. Did this happen or was it just my perverted mind (we all felt a bit like that towards Lynsey in those days).
