I am quite fortunate in coming into my possesion two Eamon Andrews' shows from (c) 1966 (they are not dated) The first has a varitey of guests including Gerry Marsden; the second has Dudley Moore and Mohammed Ali. They are both very interesting and amusing pieces. The thing I want to know is this.
1. Does anyone know what exists in the archive in addition to the above?
2. (ahem) Does the Beatles' 1965 edition exist in any form?
Cheers
(I am more than happy to trade these on if anyone's interested. simoncatweazle@aol.com)

These are both existing at the NFTVA, the second edition you mention is from 1968. The Beatles edition is among the missing (surprise, surprise) although I believe there is an off-air audio. They did Ticket To Ride and Yes It Is (for the latter of which there is no visual representation surviving at all now) plus an interview.

Yes Laurence, the 1965 Beatles appearance exists in audio only, but very good sound quality.

Jim I am also fortunate to have both these shows in my collection. The 8/5/1966 one some time ago and the Mohammed Ali one quite recently. However, I am wondering why you think the T/X date for the latter one is 7 January 1968 or is the Kal guide incorrect. My information was that it was transmitted on 22 May 1966 as Eamonn interviewed Mohammed Ali the day after his encounter with Henry Cooper. I have just looked on the internet which verifies that this fight was staged on 21 May 1966.

Several things in response to Mr. B
Firstly, it would be good manners to post here using your name.
I too had the date of May 22nd 1966 for the Tx of the show with Cassius Clay/Mohammed Ali, but took the date from the Kal guide of January 7th 1968 as the date they felt following research was the appropriate one. Perhaps the TV listing publications could throw some light on the subject. It is not inconcievable that as both CC/MH and EA were from a boxing background they met on more than one occasion.
There is no evidence to suggest that the Kal guide is incorrect as you assume, and you provide little evidence to show you are correct. I have no real feeling one way or another but would be loath to criticise the Kal guide on such flimsy arrogance.

Some people might not want to post their real names here, I don't see why they should have to, you should respect people's privacy.
Why can't I ever find something interesting? I wish I had a big old attic full of reels. *sighs*
