There's a mention of this in the Blue Peter thread lower down. How long has this been available ? Is there a record of who got what ? If it's a longstanding scheme there could be some missing material out there.

You normally have to sign a short copyright contract with the BBC to say that you won't do anything with the material that would infringe the rights of the BBC or other rights holders, so it's likely that there would be a paper trail, but how much of it was ever kept is anyone's guess. It could be an interesting line of enquiry though.

I'm not aware of the scheme being around before the late 1980s, it may have been, but it certainly wasn't well known. That's why a lot of artistes paid John Cura for telesnaps or made their own 1500 recordings.
