Does anyone know if all the episodes of the BBC series, The Great Egg Race exist, i believe it ran from 1979-86 and was presented by Lesley Judd and Professor Heinz Wolf. I also believe that Brian Cant was the first Presenter. Any info would be appreciated as i can't seem to find an episode guide for this show.
Thanks!

Jason James, Was unable to find information on the Kal powered lostshows.com database for this series status in the archives. However, was able to find a wealth of information on "The Great Egg Race" and the spin-off series "The Great Egg Race Rides Again". "The Great Egg Race" was broadcast on BBC2 from 2nd of January,1979 through 12th of September,1986.Had 68 episodes in 8 series/seasons.The spin off show "The Great Egg Race Rides Again" aired on the then BBC Choice (now,BBC 3) from April 1st through July 8th,2000.In a series of re-edited 15 minute episodes. www.ukgameshows.com/page/index.php?title=The_Great_Egg_Racealso an episode of The Great Egg Race from 1985 has been loaded on youtube to view as well: www.youtube.com/watch?v=3zOU17TJ-S4&fmt=18Hopefully someone might have some further archive status for this most odd and interesting sounding series.Interesting concept for a Game Show, like the mentioning of a combination lock that a team made that was so complex, even they could not crack it, just love it there. Cheers,Lance.

All episodes of this series exist except one, from 15/4/82, where the master 2" tape was damaged and untransferable. The unt'x pilot edition made in May 1978 also exists.
Presenters were Brian Cant in series 1, later Johnny Ball, Hilary Henson, Charlotte Allen, Lesley Judd; Heinz Wolff was a judge only in the early series, but was the presenter from 1983, co-hosting with Lesley Judd for a time.

ISTR some episodes being shown on Learning Zone or possibly even the OU on BBC2 a few years back. Always the later episodes, though.

I also think some episodes were repeated in the mid 90s, just some later ones if i remember rightly. With programmes like SCRAPHEAP CHALLENGE being popular, Great Egg Race needs a full repeat, i'd really love to see the fist series hosted by Brian Cant. Surely it wouldn't be too difficult for the Beeb to get clearance for repeats or maybe a channel like Discovery Science to show it.

O/T but relevant to me - I shared a stage once at an event with Heinz and he was a great guy.

Relevant to me, I was at the recording of one of those - the Hovercraft one www.bbc.co.uk/archive/great_egg_race/10810.shtml. I'm visible centre in the audience at 18 minutes wearing a brown suede jacket, which scarily I still have! I agree Heinz Wolff was very affable, happy to talk with the audience after the recording. ~iw

So it's this one which is missing: 15 April 1982 Charlotte Allen introduces he first of a new series of nine problem-solving programmes. TheEggPoachers With limited time and unusual materials, teams from Wilkinson Sword, BXL Plastics and three London immunologists are challenged to design, construct and demonstrate a moving problem with a cracking result. Heinz Wolff , Director of the Medical Research Council's Bio-Engineering Division, is the principal judge and problem-setter throughout the series. This week's specialist judge is Ian Fells , Professor of Energy Conversion, University of Newcastle. Studio director CHARLES HUFF Producer PETER BRUCE Wonder if any of the organizations/individuals involved have copies? Shame it's not this one: www.youtube.com/watch?v=7pvf6Xl9hQE
