I've heard that an audio recording of the largely missing seventh episode of 'A For Andromeda' was recently discovered in the hands of a private collector. Does anyone have any more information on this?
Was an audio recording discovered? What is known about the sound quality? Is it complete?
I'd be grateful of any help.
Thank you: Charles Norton

Apparently so. I heard it from reliable sources Good news. I havent yet been lucky enough to hear it, I am told it is complete, and I think I recall hearing that the sound quality is ok. It might take a while for it to get an official release (as it came back after the box set was released).

Any further possibility of a commercial release?

Hmm, I dont really know what the beeb would do with it. They already released every scrap of material relating to the series in the box set, so a standalone release seems pretty remote. I think the best thing they could do is put it up on their website for people to enjoy, maybe with the telesnaps from that episode. I dont know if they will get around to this though.

That is what I was going to suggest here as well Greg. As they say " Great Minds Think Alike"!! An audio episode, much in the same way as the Loose Cannon and BBC Doctor Who Tele-Snap re-creations of these episodes in this manner. Or as part of a BBC podcast possibly, BBC radio program which might be interested in airing the complete edition? Who can really state here with any amount of certainty?? I wish I knew as well there, would be nice to say the least. One of those wait and see what happens items I fear here! Some good ideas for utilization here however, hoping something may be able to be done there in regards.
Cheers, Lance.

If the BBC are going to put the newly recovered Dr Who's on a new version of Lost in Time, it might be logical to add the andromeda audio as an extra(perhaps with telesnaps as has been suggested). They are both from the 1960s and lead male actor Peter Halliday appeared in several Doctor Who stories. Plus if the Andromeda story appealed to people, they could buy the box set of that story(which 2entertain might like)

Thats actually not such a bad idea Paul; I doubt the BBC would go for it though!

what would be on the "Lost in time II" if such a thing happened? would they put the ice warriors on it do you think? as an extra may I again suggest "Professor Prune"

I know this is of the more popular shows from the early 60's, so this may be a teensy bit important?
""Missing or incomplete episodes for programme A FOR ANDROMEDA.
03.10.61 The Message (missing)""
""Broadcast:
06/11/61 Title:
POINTS OF VIEW Description: A programme reflecting viewers' points of view presented by Robert ROBINSON with extracts read from viewers' letters and clips from programmes. > Telerecording w telerecorded insertsEX-LIB:ex 'A for Andromeda' tx'd 03/10/61 (dur 20s) Cast:Esmond KNIGHT, Mary MORRIS, Peter HALLIDAY, Patricia KNEALE & Noel JOHNSON. ""
it's one of those shows I know little about, and this may or may not have been known about. So just putting this out there....

I dont know what this is or where its from. I know that one episode exists, one audio exists, and some inserts exist. Whether these are the inserts known to exist or a new find, I can not say.
I would like to see the audio from A for Andromeda in circulation. If anyone has a copy please let me know.

Hi Ray,
good work! I have a suspicion that this will be the brief clip from episode one that has been recovered previously. However I don't have a broadcast date for that to hand, so you never know your luck. hopefully someone with broadcast dates will be along in a bit!
@george D, I have certainly never found anyone with audio for Andromeda, if anyone knows better then it would be fairly big news for us retro telly types.
