Bill Tenants show was a magazine programme and cookery with Fanny Craddock making dougnnuts was one of the items on the edition in question. Closing at the end Tennant apparently wished the viewers goodnight before adding "and I hope your doughnuts turn out like Fannys."

ROFLMAO:-) That's as good as the batsman's Holding, the bowler's Willey !

Re: The Bee Gees.
Clive Anderson was interviewing The Bee Gee's about their early career, they said that wanted to be called Le Tossers, to which Clive said "You'll always be Le Tossers to me!" to which they started walking out, only to be left with one Bee Gee, to which he said "Their's nopoint in me being here" and promptly left, leaving a rather flustered Clive to quickly close the show!

Another classic was David Coleman commentating on the mens 400mts final during the Montreal Olympics in 76. Alberto Juantereno from Cuba was about 6ft 4, a slow starter, but with around 250 mts to go, used to stride out and leave the others for dead. During the final, he started to stride out as usual, and Coleman said something like : "And Juantereno opens his legs and shows off his talent to the world"
Or something like that.

Wasn't it Ron Pickering? If I remember correctly, he was commenting during a slow-motion replay, and said "The Cuban opened his legs and showed his class."

I believe it was Coleman, Montreal 76. But it gave rise to the phrase Colemanballs, that the magazine Private Eye use.

And there was the Blue Peter one where they did a feature about the production of a replacement doorknocker for Durham Cathedral, ending showing the two doorknockers side by side, ending with Simon Groom uttering the immortal words "What a beautiful pair of knockers." I saw it go out live although it's been much-repeated. www.youtube.com/watch?v=lSO3-jKoRBQThat's as good as the batsman's Holding, the bowler's Willey ! Does anyone know if that one still exists or even what year it might have been?

It was Johnners-although the bowler might have been Holding the batsman's Willey. I would date that in the early 80's. Then off course there's the legendary "Botham didn't quite get his leg over" where Johnners stuggles to read the West Indian scorecard after getting a severe fit of the giggles.
I think on reflection my original post re Fanny Craddock was a bit cryptic. I didn't want to lower the tone... Apologies too about my spelling of "doughnuts".

Then there was the weather girl who said something like ''And it will be wet and windy down below'' Then got the giggles? was it Ulrika or Wincey Willis?

Ulrika announced on one forecast "Snow continues to fall across the country.. I had 8 inches last night!"
