I see that the episode to be shown on Saturday next is "Made for Each Other" with Judi Dench, from Season 3. Has this one been repeated before? Apart from Ms Dench, is it an episode of note??

It was repeated on 15/12/63, but not since!

I was asked to choose an episode for the 60s season, which led to a long and painful evening trying to decide. I think Made For Each Other represents the show's relevance to Sixties concerns, includes some terrific guest performances and is expertly written and directed. The cast and crew all have fond memories of this episode and it blew me away the first time I saw it.
Made For Each Other is also of interest in terms of Talking To A Stranger (seen last year on BBC4), as this episode inspired John Hopkins to write that award winning serial with Dench in mind. It ain't a bad audition...
If you hate it, you now know who to blame! But I hope you like it. No Sixties season would be complete without John Hopkins, frankly.

I loved it! Especially the wonderful cast. The more "theatrical" aspect of 60's and early 70's TV really works much better than "modern" TV when there's such a strong script and cast, imo.
Thanks for a great choice.

Could anyone point me in the direction of any links to good sites on TEXT? In particular, there are a couple of episodes for which I can remember the plot but am curious to fill in the gaps (transmission date/title etc). Many thanks in anticipation for any advice.

Hi Mike,
Sadly there isn't an on-line Z Cars episode guide with full plot descriptions, which is what I assume you're looking for. With a run of c.800 episodes that's a daunting task, unlike, say, Doctor Who which is in wide circulation and has a thirty-year fan industry to fall back on.
David Brunt is editing a history of Z Cars which will attempt to remedy the situation. Myself and a few others on this board have been mucking in with the research, so I suppose if you just want to give plot descriptions and a rough date then we can have a bash! I make no promises though.
