Just a thought on the BBC approaching the Zimbabwean authorities....might it actually be a very bad idea ?
There is a lot of malice in the current government towards us, might they destroy films out of spite if they know we value them ?

Yes I am sure people read this and thought it was all true and accurate reporting sadly. However on a good note it does remind joe public about lost TV shows like Doctor Who.

Yes, many people in and out of fandom are taking this as fact. I reported it in my forums for my website opening in the Spring, but with the Disclaimer: 'Take your big grain of salt before reading' and opened the post with the sentence 'This is from the Sun, so get your sunglasses on.'
PS: That DVD set is still up? I thought the Beeb would have done something about it by now.

Yes, many people in and out of fandom are taking this as fact. At least this story has not blown up like DWO's Web of Fear story did in 2007. That got really ugly.

Although I'm not a great fan of the "Stun" they have a large readership. If they'd run a "campaign" asking their readers to look in their attics, cellars, etc for cans of film, reels of tape, obsolete video cassettes, etc something might turn up. "The Stun recovers......"

Speaking of things turning up, have you heard anything official about DWO's missing episode campaign? They were as evasive about this subject as they were about answering questions about their Web of Fear report.
