There was a VHS of Tiswas sold a few years ago when ITC was taken over by Polygram.
You have to remember this was a live show so in those days it was not probably not recorded in the first place? a VT operator (who was recording rather than just playing back) was treated like a god and commanded huge wages especially on the weekends. So having an extra VT op (in addition to one who was playing back) could eat a considerable amount into a children's TV budget.
so what remains are maybe a few pre recorded inserts , outside filming and a few low band in house studio cassettes? but no entire shows .

Chris Tarrant says there was an over-enthusiastic engineer at ATV/Central that wiped a lot of Tiswas as he thought it was rubbish.

Are we talking about TISWAS ? I have several shows that have turned up. Not sure if you mean no episodes of TISWAS or SATURDAY SCENE.

ITN Source lists a small number - six or so - of Saturday Scene broadcasts as still existing from between 1975 and 1977. Information on the site is scant. There is however a recent addition of the Roger Taylor interview with a screen shot, and indeed you can watch it on line if it's of interest. There are also a lot of episodes listed which carry the DL- prefix, which means they're deleted. In terms of Marc Bolan's six appearances, none has ever come to light so I am interested in the notion that one has popped up on this compilation tape. He was on 18/12/76 with a Happy Xmas message, so if that survives, it was probably a pre-recorded segment. I will be following this up asap. Martin

What a good clip, I'd be fascinated to see more Saturday Scene if they were able to release it commercially. Trouble is, I guess that as a music show, the clearances would soon mount up.
BTW, there are more Tiswas episodes in existance than ITN Source or Granada International have got catalogued. I'm one of the team behind Tiswasonline.com, and there's a complete episode guide there. It's getting new info all the time, but it does list where an official recording was retained, or where a private recording is known to exist - and the good thing is, ITV know all about it!
