A very sad piece of news to report, Patrick McGoohan has just passed away, aged 80. A real shock. For me, his work made for some of the most compelling TV ever.

Very sorry to hear he's passed away after a short illness. I first saw The Prisoner in about 1993 on Channel 4 and loved it immediately.
I was disappointed that his death didn't merit a mention on the BBC 6 o'clock news yet the possible transfer of a Brazilian footballer to an English club did.

Profoundly saddening. R.I.P.
I have no idea what he's been up to in the cast decade or two, he'd been very quiet, and now alas gone forever..........

As each year passed McGoohan's creative genius became more apparent. It's a shame that he never quite reached the high standard he set himself in the sixties when he returned to the USA.

No... deeply saddened to hear this. He had been quiet for a number of years but I was hoping he'd be making some kind of a noise about the recent rehash of "The Prisoner"... RIP

Very sad to hear this. I saw the original broadcasts in 1967-68 - and I still think "The Prisoner" is the greatest television series ever made!
R.I.P. Patrick.

There was a spell in the late 60s / early 70s where I felt he would have been great for the role of James Bond. Him or Michael Caine. RIP PATRICK.

A very memorable and much missed actor, Patrick will be most remembered for his leading role in The Prisoner but he was also brilliant in guest roles including in at least one episode of Columbo.
