I have just re-read the following item about John Roberts, the "mystery man" who popped up on screen on the night of Kennedy's assassination: www.independent.co.uk/news/media/how-the-kennedy-assassination-caught-the-bbc-on-the-hop-736162.htmlReading this article, one would think that this chap appeared only on the night of the murder. Well, on Thursday night I was watching a programme I recorded a few years ago, called "Christine Keeler - Sex Bomb", obviously a programme about the Profumo affair. When Stephen Ward died, following an overdose, who should I see announcing his death? None other than John Roberts - and this was three months before the Kennedy assassination! So he must have been a regular newsreader, surely? Although I certainly have no memory of him on screen at the time. Mind you, we had an aerial problem at that time, and could only receive a snowy BBC picture, so most of the time - including 22-11-63 - we watched ITV. Any further information on John Roberts? Colin.

Well, be it a twist of fate, he certainly got some historical headlines for a relief newsreader!
