I have found an online archived clip from 1969 from New Zealand TV in the old NZBC days showing old TV film prints being discarded at the rubbish tip. Go to this site (presumably it will work outside of NZ): www.nzonscreen.com/title/25-years-of-television-1985/overviewOn the Clips Selection, choose 'clip 2' (the index picture actually shows the reporter standing in the tip!), and after it has loaded, go to 8m35s, and for the next min or so you'll see (partly staged) footage of films junked.
